Bought my new v tonight and was offered an option to purchase a 5 year extended warranty for $1500. Would you ?
I bought mine through a dealer here on Prius Chat because it was considerably cheaper than what the local dealer offered. Try searching on here, not sure if they still offer it or not since that was in 2011.
I purchased a 5 yr 100K mile warranty from my dealer for $750.00 in May 2013 for my C. I got the warranty book and read all the B/S stipulations and promptly canceled it. I don't really think you need an extended warranty with any of the Prius lines. The Hybrid system components come with an 8 yr 100K warranty. Not much else to go wrong with them during that time. An extended warranty purchase is a gamble. If nothing happens, you wasted that money. If something does, you're good and it was worth it. Take the 1500.00 and put it in a 5 yr savings account. If something happens, use it. If not, enjoy the added benefit of the 1500 plus interest Otherwise, find a better price because that's about double of what you should pay.
