Damn parallel parking injury. Parked for two hours in Monterey and found this when I got back. Looks like the bolt head for someone's license plate stamped into my rear bumper. So much room to park, I figured I was safe. I am so disappointed in the human race. Argh!!!!!
That is so annoying when somebody bumps your bumper to park. That is why I have a hitch with tow ball on it so they hit that instead of my bumper. It doesn't look nice on there. But, rather not have license place screw indentions on my rear bumper. Too late now, but maybe get a BumperBully to prevent more damage?
Sorry to hear of the damage to your new PIP. It's the result of one person and I'm sure it wasn't intentional. When I lowered my front license plate, I had two dimples in addition to two holes in the bumper cover. I used a electric heat gun and it reduced the size of the dimples to "almost" not noticeable. Be careful, you can melt the bumper cover and more easily blister the paint. Might be best to leave as is.
Was wondering if anyone has had something similar fixed and repainted. If so, how much did it cost? I assume the entire bumper will need to be repainted.
With car rental you are looking at about $1000. My honda civic hybrid was rear-ended about 4 or 5 times and every time it was $800-$1000 with rental.
Good idea. Maybe if I can put my GREEN HOV sticker there. Lol. Where can I get a PIP Sticker to consider if I will cover it up? Thanks
No Sorry to hear of your bumper damage. I was wondering, has anyone experienced chips on their front bumper. I noticed my 2006 bumper had many chips from rocks probably hitting the bumper, and now I notice I already have one chip on my new car. It looks like the paint on the front bumper is very thin.
I can sympathize, in my case the same bumper nick only took two days. I'm parked on the street in San Francisco all day and resigned to an ongoing series of bumper marks throughout the cars lifetime.
Going to have it covered with a letter in a custom made "Prius Plug In Hybrid" logo ghosted in with a darker silver-grey so it looks OEM. Any other suggestions for the decal?
that sounds pretty sweet! if you do, i'd love to see a pic and details. i've been wanting something nice on the rear bumper since i got it.
Will do. Going to see if they can find a similar font to spell "Advanced" below the "Plug In Hybrid" logo
I had my rear bumper repainted and it cost $250 Your damage looks like a good candidate for Paintless Dent Repair with suction cups can be about $100
Same thing happened to my wife. Trying to park away from everyone, but one numbnuts had to pull up right behind her and squeeze into the space left purposely. Bumper removal, tri coat Blizzard Pearl repainted was $550. Had it been an old car, wouldn't have bothered, but being new was a different story. The offender was "shocked" it was so much money. Maybe next time they will think differently.
