I brought it home last night - 2008 Touring Model w/options package #2. It is Magnetic Gray and drives like a dream.

My first commute drive this morning was 24 miles at an average of 49.2 mpg. I'm a happy camper - my PT Cruiser was lucky to get 22 mpg. :)

This morning, I had trouble getting the brake light to go off so I could put the car in drive and I'm not sure if it was a problem or a newbie mistake. Last night when I left the dealer, I wasn't sure how to read the fuel gauge and it took me 5 minutes to find the gas door lever - they didn't have the factory car mats in the car and it was covering it. I felt like an idiot and was sure all the guys behind the counter at quik trip were having a good laugh :)

    So much to learn!!!

congrats! what do you mean by 'couldn't get the brake lite to go off'? how can you tell the brake lites are on when you're sitting in the car, and why do they need to be off to shift into drive? you have to press the brake pedal, press the start button, wait for the ready lite, shift into gear and release the brake pedal.

The brake lite on the dash is on so it won't allow me to put the car in drive. I tried pressing and releasing the emergency brake and I had my foot on the brake firmly so I don't know what's going on. After turning it off and back on a couple of times, it was off and let me get going - here at work, it's doing it again. If I can get it off to get going again, I'm taking it straight to the dealership.

I ran up to the dealership and we figured up it was set to go from Accessory to Diagnostic mode - not sure how that happened - I probably pushed a button that shouldn't have been pushed! After pushing it again and removing and replacing the key fob, it worked!! Who knows why I'll mess up next! :)

Don't be so hard on yourself. Prius is not a regular car. Live and learn. Enjoy the car.

You will start to notice something that will occur that will put a grin on your face. You will start to have less trips to the gas station, lower cost fill ups, and more money in your wallet.
