.. i noticed that sometimes it didn't ring.. once or twice.. or sometimes i would have a bad bluetooth connection.. again.. only once or twice.. i've used it hundreds of times. I have it so it automatically answers on the second ring.. Gives me enough time to see who's calling.. and stop singing *ahem*.. and wait for the phone to pick up.
It really comes down to the capabilities built into your phone. I know with my Motorola E815, it will connect with the Prius in less than five seconds after hitting the power button, and work within a 40 foot radius. I even answered a call in the car while the phone was in my house while I had the car on. What kind of phone do you have, and what service are you using?
No problems here. I am also using the motorola E815 with the blue tooth link on. 2005 Prius W/Blue tooth GO BIG ED ON AIR AMERICA
I'm still on AT&T with the Motorola RAZR. Love it! Just wish voice activated dialing was available on the '05.
Which carrier are you using? Which features are supported using that phone (ring through speakers, batt. and strength on MFD, etc)? If you don't mind... My phone just underwent a very unfortunate life-ectomy for which I am still trying to find somebody ELSE to blame...
I also have an e815. For me the ring is in the phone and I see the strength on the MFD. It pairs very quickly and the sound is pretty good.
I've successfully used it with: Sony-Ericsson T68i Motorola V600 I have an 05, and lemme tell you how much I love this feature! I just walk in and as long as BT is turned on in the mobile phone, the Prius recognizes it. I uploaded my phonebook from the T68i without any hitch whatsoever. My question is this: Maybe I haven't spent enough time with the manual, but how do I just input my own entry into the damned phonebook?
yes. I had problems with Bluetooth, but have now resolved this. I use a Treo 650, and can provide some guidance here. Bigger problem: Bluetooth cuts off an active call if another caller dials in ( call waiting activated). Do you, or anyone else, have any answers to how to solve this dilemma? thx, peterwalts
I have a 2006 with bluetooth and it work fine. I have a Sony Ericsson S710 and was able to upload my entire phonebook to the Prius. It seems to connect and disconnect when entering and leaving the car with no problems. Auto answers using the Prius speakers, dial from the MFD or voice.
To use in my 2006 Prius, I switched to the Motorola RAZR V3C phone. I used the pairing instructions off the Toyota Let's Talk web site and as found in the Toyota Owner's Guide and got it working in a few minutes. I recall the "password" code that the Prius wanted to transmit was different from what was documented on the Let's Talk web site but the difference was just something like "1212" instead of "1111". I leave "Bluetooth enabled" set on my cell phone so it pairs with the car every time I get in and start up. A few seconds later, I see a message at the top of the MFD, "Bluetooth enabled". I have really enjoyed making and receiving hands-free calls while driving. The car microphone picks my voice up well, with little background noise, and the car speaker presents the voice of the remote party with better quality than my cell phone would. It has always worked reliably once it was set up (three weeks ago).
If you originate an important call, you can deactivate call waiting when initiating the call. Incoming calls are more difficult. Palm has issued ROM updates that are supposed to correct this but folks have reported mixed results. If you haven't updated to the most current ROM from Palm's web site, doing so might help.
Not so much of a problem as an annoyance. But my Motorola Razr will occasionally have a weak Bluetooth signal and not connect when the car is powered on. It has only happened 3 times thus far though. And often times when the car is powered off and I'm nowhere near it (ie: well more than 40 feet away from it) my cell will ring and I swear the Bluetooth in the car answers it and I can't use the handset or hear the caller, so I have to make sure the BT is disconnected on my cell before I can take/make a call. It usually happens when I'm home, in our condo unit which is 3 full stories above and 20-25 feet horizontally from where I park underneath the building. My husband has gotten so used to it that when he calls back, he says, "Did your car answer my call again???" It also happened when I was at the grocery store the other day. Must have been a food 300 feet from the freaking car and still had a BT connection showing on my phone, rendering it unanswerable by handset.
