Not to start a controversy. To each their own but the guy from PA with a regular prius, I am so happy I got a PIP. Heated seats in the winter, back up camera, the lousy gps gets me to where I need to go. I do like the fact that after I exhaust my ev range that is around 14 miles consistently in the summer I get to go up to 42 mph after the engine warms up and it goes back into ev hybrid mode. I test drove a regular prius I don't think it can get close to that. I get readings of 70-80 mpg after my ev range is over and I start another trip on hybrid only. It is easy to do in the PIP. ROI is going to be I guess 5 years or so from a regular prius after my O% financing for 5 years runs out. I keep my cars a long time so it is all down hill after that. Got the 3500 incentive from Toyota and 2500 from the tax man. Best of all less gas means less demand for oil from the middle east. I commute 10 miles each way to work and only plug in at home. Last mpg on the tank was a measured 117mpg and the trip meter said 123mpg. I know others have gone much further on a tank but reaching that 1000 mile mark was great. Put 8.5 gals to fill it and the blinking light just came on. With two gals left in the tank I was happy.
Don't forget to take a screenshot of your EV/HV ratio and post it on markabele's MPGe thread. You'll probably land a spot on the top 10!
My last tank was 1092 miles and 8.136 gallons to fill it. Considering my commute alone is around 33-34 round trip alone and the major part of it on a parkway, that's got me smiling. Under The Dome is on, time to see if they show the PiP again.
You need to post it in the "Top 10 MPGe" thread. I think you got 81.74 MPGe and that would give you 7th place and kick me off the list.
Great job! 137 MPGe on electricity and 57 MPG on gas. Your composite efficiency is 81.7 MPGe. Your driving is actually more efficient than mine. I have a lot of unavoidable stop lights/signs and hills. They drag my EV efficiency down.
Yep, when I can. My commute also has runs up th 70-75 mph too. There were also a couple of 60 mile round trips where I only charged at home. With all that, I'm amazed with this car and it has spoiled me.
Just completed my second tank of gas since purchase 012413. First tank was 694 miles. Over four months later, second tank was 2040 miles, with two bars left, requiring a 8 gallons to fill up. Fun, but surely not effortless.
