I guess I should say that I know I can do it.

The question is should I do it....

On the underside of the Prius, passenger side, there is a black plastic shield that runs along under the floor of the car.

I am talking about totally underneath the car....

If I stand a few feet away from the car, I can see this plastic shield. The front of it (the top toward the engine) hangs down an inch or so from the actual floor of the car. It has done that for a few years.

It collects mega amounts of muck, which I try to pry, sweep, flush out on a semi-irregular basis. A friend said I should put a small sheet metal screw through the shield and into the floor . It would be under a seat.

    Yay, or nay?

No way. No holes in metal, ever. Try silicone, 40/40 or done other adhesive.

You need to use RivNuts or rivet nuts that allow you to use a M5 machine screw.

I have a professional RivNut tool that I use to install roof racks and other accessories in sheet metal.

However, you can make a tool, if you need to install just a few.
