Having the honor and privilege of living in NY long Island and Manhattan, West LA and North County Coastal San Diego I recall LA traffic being unbearable with few options, NYC drivers being aggressive and leaning on that blasted horn was the norm and SD drivers just asleep at the wheel with no regard for driver etiquette rules etc. I digress
True story my company had a Captain in the Army who was stationed in Bagdad during the second war there. He got a dash cam hit record and drove round Bagdad and recorded the video. He edited the film and slowed it down at parts pointing out dangerous situations. Cars coming at em head on, guns , possible snipers, goats in the road, children playing in the street, burnt out buildings, etc. I said hey no big deal looks like Brooklyn.
My husband also hated the Prius. He was dead set against it. But I was so giddy about finding the model with every option I wanted I could barely get my wallet out of my purse for my id to test drive it at the dealership because my fingers were shaking. He used every argument there was to steer me away from it. In the end, we bought the Prius and I am truly thrilled with it. After swearing he would never drive a PRIUS, we have entered a hardcore competition on who can get the best gas mileage on a drive. He's winning by a long shot. Conveniently he's liking it better and better.
After he admits his error and buys you a nice dinner and gift for his foolishness, THEN kick his mpg butt.
I know the OP is long gone, but I gotta agree with the woman from GA. Why do you all put up with women who demand a cute car that is too expensive? Jeeze, if your marriage depends on getting the right car, then heaven help your marriage. Yeah, give the little woman what she wants, happy wife=happy marriage. Good idea. There's a big difference between dominating someone with what you want and making an informed decision that makes sense for you as a family. Buying a car that you can't afford because of the name is a super way to make sure that you can't afford the next purchase, car or house or whatever your goals are. But I seem to be in the minority. Women like this appear to have no problem finding men who prefer them.
