So I drove to Cranston, RI from Norwich, CT today to look at the previously mentioned 04. All receipts were with the car, including the new (from Toyota) hybrid battery with 5 year warranty, new tires, serpentine, wheel bearing and more. It has a few cosmetic flaws, the fuel door is off kilter and the passenger mirror has a hairline down it. I was first to look and gave her a bank check there for it. She will be going to the bank first thing monday and getting the title (normally I dont buy unless clean title but she and her mom were hot...lol they seemed legit too, so no worries). I will pick it up later in the week. As a note, the front headlight isn't fogged...its just a weird reflection.
congrats! how many miles on her? (not the mom or daughter ) i thought toyota only gave one year warranty on replacement battery? all the best!
Haha Thanks! I can't wait to get it. 168k on the clock. Little high for what i was looking for but with all records and all the new stuff I figure I can get her to 300k easily.
I will look over the receipts and ask to find out. Seems like they stuck pretty regularly to the schedule so they probably have had the oil at a minimum. Should I bring it to Toyota for transaxle or is it a relatively easy DIY? I have access to a lift and tools on base at our hobby shop and I am pretty handy with a wrench.
The Transaxle I bring it to the dealer. The cost is $100. Just a drain and fill. I have a gen 3 and it is difficult to get to the fill hole. The dealer can review any recalls and make sure they get done. I believe an inverter pump recall, that is good to get done for free if it was not done by the previous owner. If you have the VIN # you can view the Dealer Service record. I think any recalls as well. Service History Online - Toyota Owners The above is the link to the web site from Toyota. Nice car enjoy it and congrats.
Thanks. (On all accounts). $100 is reasonable. She did tell me all the recalls and bulletins were addressed already so that put me at ease too. Since I am so new to this, mine is Gen II right? Are there any types of easy-ish DIYs I can do just from a comfort/convenience standpoint? Stuff like software updates/mods for the MFD, lighting, tips for the stereo, or any settings I can get into and change via MFD or a Bluetooth OBD reader?
2003-2009 is gen II If you don't have the owners Manuel suggest download it from the totota web site. Very useful
