OK everyone ready? Toyota just called and said that they will cover parts and I just have to pay for labor $500. I am super happy. They already arranged everything with the dealer. I can't believe it. JMD THANK YOU SO MUCH for telling me to call them.

Congratulations in getting a great resolution to an relatively expensive reality.

Note to Toyota: News of this type of customer support, ALMOST makes me want to dance around like a mindless maniac singing about how everyone should "Join Us".....Almost....

To the OP...you say how many miles you had on your vehicle but what year is it?
    Just curious.

Just an update. Picked up my car from the dealer this morning with the new battery installed. Runs great, my damage only $488. The original quote from the dealer was $3600.
THANK YOU TOYOTA. I will be buying another Prius again for sure when it's time to replace this one.

WOW. Great news. If Toyota does this for me too, I would be customer for life. I already am. Most of my car choices have been Toyota except for a Honda S2000.

Hmm... good story. I got to try it when it is my time. I know I am starting to see battery going to pink when I leave on backup a little bit in the morning. Just under 150k miles now.

"Pink"? Never noticed that color before. I have an 07 with 170,009 miles. I noticed a dark maroon color when my HV battery is low. This is happening more frequently now. 1bar the full bars green. happens twice a day.

I think you made the screen background color greenish? I have it set one blue background. So I can see it as pink/blue/green. But this might also be the 2004-2005 model screen too, not certain.

I know you were able to get Toyota to replace your battery but it isn't the big deal everyone makes it out to be. Let me identify myself as an independent dealer who only sells Prius (not soliciting business here). The Prius battery is easily rebuilt. I buy Prius with bad HV batteries on purpose at auctions. I then have a Toyota mechanic who works on the side and comes out and replaces them for $800 and gives me a 1 year warranty. A lot better than replacing a transmission (which you won't need to do). A Hybrid battery scares off people but it is not a big deal to solve. I'm sure there is someone in your state that rebuilds them.
