Just traded my 2012 Prius Plug-In Advanced for a 2013 RAV4 EV. All I can say is WOW, is this car fun to drive!!
Thanks. It's quite a shame they're only selling it in CA. Maybe the next gen will be available nationwide.
Not really. Maybe if the styling was more to my liking. We have a few Leaf owners at my work and they all say its a great car. I just can't see myself driving one. The Rav was appealing to me because of its 113 mile range, Tesla traction motor, and its roominess. I do miss some of the features I was enjoying from my PIP though.
Damn, I tried so hard to get my 2007 RAV4 V6 in that color, and it just didn't happen (hard to find that color back in the days). Now I see you have the car I really want in the color I always wanted. I envy you Congrats, and enjoy the ride!
Thank you. I had my heart set on the Blizzard Pearl (same color as my PIPA) but I fell in love with the Shoreline Blue Pearl when I saw it in person. The only downside is it's nearly impossible to find a shark fin antenna in this color.
The only reason I can see to buy a Leaf over the Rav 4 EV is if you are not in california. Have almost 5k miles on mine already and it has exceeded my expectations.
Glad to hear it's running well. I'm hoping mine doesn't get that EV error that some others are getting. One thing for sure, I drive it in Sport Mode most of the time. No more worrying about EV efficiency or range like my PIPA.
Piles of Rav 4 evs are at Bay Area Toyota dealers with charging issues. Apparently Toyota and Tesla can't agree on who needs to fix them. Not saying I wouldn't enjoy owning one if I had the opportunity, just passing on some interesting info.
I'm just turned 9K yesterday in my 2013, and it's perfect so far! Have had it since Aug 1, 2013. Right now I wish the heater worked as quickly and efficiently as the air cond! Brrrrr!
Going to take mine to Palm Springs this weekend. Should be about 120 each way and can charge at the resort. Going to stay below 70 driving out on an extended charge to make sure I can make it.
^^ you should be fine. my coworker drives from long beach to palm springs several times a month and he says he doesn't have any issues with range. keeping it at 65-70 certainly helps. good luck and let us know how it goes.
There's a guy in San Diego who has added a Brusa charger to their Rav4-ev . . . decreasing the charge time by a third. Plus, if THAT's not WAY cool enough ... there's a Chademo port adapter in the works ... Wooo Hooo!!!. I'm still working on snagging one of these wonderful cars that Toyota unfortunately has not promoted NEAR enough. .
Im hoping to do the same thing. I just listed my PIP on craigslist for sale. 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In with Advanced Package I hate to see it go but I cant wait to own a cheap Tesla.
