An electric bicycle that can reach 90 MPH?

    Rich Kronfeld (creator of 90's game show "Let's Bowl") is designing a three-wheeled electric "bicycle" that can reach up to 90 MPH and has an onboard generator that can be charged by using the pedals on the bike. He has recently gotten a $50,000 renewable energy grant from Xcel Energy and the University of Minnesota-Mankato.

    carbon fiber pods can be very safe if done correctly, and since this would get classified as an enclosed motorcycle, it would not need to comply with all the excessive car safety regulations.

    What I would worry about as a rider is whether cars can see it, I would prefer a taller, easier to see vehicle.

    Just opt for the safety orange, neon green, or Pepto pink color. Avoid the low vis grey one.

    Yes, but then it wouldn't be as fast, and would be more sensitive to crosswinds. Design always involves compromises.

    The current record for human-powered vehicles is 82mph. The streamlined 'bicycles' are not something the average person would ever ride in traffic, but it gives us ideas of what's possible.
