Thanks for the additional information. I am expecting the radio head on Monday along with the camera. I will most likely install the head and nav antenna first. Then I will just plug in the camera to insure everything is working. Then I will tackle the camera installation. Thanks for the Good Luck wishes, I"ll take all I can get since I will most likely need them. Remember "Murphy's Law".

You're welcome :) I did the same thing and postponed the camera install for a different weekend. But I would suggest that you put a 5 to 6 foot yellow RCA video cable on the back of the HU right away and route that wire along with an extension of the "back" wire so it ends up under the driver's side carpet trim panel. That way, on the camera install you won't have to deal with tearing into the dash again. All you'd need is an RCA male to male connector to hook up the wire you get included in the camera kit. The "back" wire gets powered from the red wire on the backup lamp.

I actually bought the Myron and Davis camera, hoping it might be a better quality camera. It has a special cable which comes into the head. BUT having said that I will also install a second video cable to the point you suggested. Just in case the Myron and Davis camera mounting doesn't work out for me and I need to fall back and regroup. I just want to do the best job I can, lets just call it plan "B". I intend for the "back" wire to be continuous from where it is spliced into the head, since I feel the less splices the better.

Just as a side comment, I was out your way two weeks ago. I was visiting some relatives at Sun City for a few days. My wife had a hard time getting me to leave Flagstaff and go down to the valley. Just picture sitting at Cracker Barrel on the porch, temperature 73 degrees and going on to Phoenix, temperature?.

I like their rockers. My wife & I decided we would get a pair for our retirement home and sit on the porch with our sweet tea, rocking the days away...

Yep - we've just come out of 118 so I can't really suggest visiting here unless you have to.

I'm now running into the same problem with my iPhone 5. Just started this afternoon when I ran out to get lunch. I'm hoping it'll somehow self-correct itself when I leave work. Otherwise, I'll find out how good the M&D people are at warranty returns since mine has been installed since around June 1st.

I still have my old Droid so I can try that when I get home. I suspect that it won't change anything.

New here, I was wondering if someone could go into further detail about the DVD player and it's functionality? This would be the main reason why I would get the unit. Could someone post pics of the screen while it's playing a movie?

    Thanks,

So I called M&D and they think that the Bluetooth board is bad. They said for me to email the seller which I did. I pretended I had no idea about any warranty. He said it was 30 days but I could send it back to M&D for repairs who would call me with an estimate.

I'm thinking I should call him out on the ad where it says 3 years but the seller said 30 days on closeouts. He did say they were normally fair on the price. I mean, the other option is to not send it in and sell it on ebay for like $150 as-is stating that I know the BT doesn't work right.

I'm starting to think that I might want to pay the $400 for a Rosen and cut my losses on the cheap unit with the clunky interface.

I'd explore all of the options before sending it in. Mine wouldn't pair with any phone, the pairing screen was constantly stuck at "disconnect" and the little bluetooth icon on the front screen would never come on.

You can always get the Toyota bluetooth kit, it overrides the audio of the headunit when you're on the phone. I've seen them for around $80.

Mine sounds like the same problem you had. Mine shows it as being disconnected and won't pair. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with it but I like having BT and talking on it. For audio I'll use the aux cable instead for right now.

I had a different problem w/my android phone. Recently, I couldn't get any sound from the unit & I thought it might be temporary but wouldn't go away meaning I couldn't hear anything. Anyways, to cut the story short I turned off my bluetooth feature on my phone & the sound came back. I left it like this for a couple of days after turned my bluetooth back on & everything works like before but it was strange for awhile as I couldn't figure out what to do, I went a whole day without sound or music in my car, it was terrible:( . I know this doesn't help u as yours is a iphone & totally different issue, I wish I could be of more help & hope u get yours straightened out.

I ended up sending my Myron and Davis unit back, it did not fit in my car. I have a 2012 model two and it is not a direct replacement for it. My fault, I thought my model was the basic unit and it isn't. I have ordered the plug and play cable for my unit which will allow me to install a backup camera in my vehicle. My understanding is that my car is actually "prewired" for a backup camera, however the cost of the OEM camera is prohibitive, also it it harder to access the installed cable than it is to run a new one. So, the parts are ordered and I hope I got it right this time.

I do not think you can play a DVD in the Gen III's.

Mine plays DVD movies. It's like a 7" screen theator ;-) pretty neat. Have to be parked as mine does not have the motion over ride module installed yet...

I have tried it in my drive way. It will not read a dvd at all. Wish it did. I have a 2013 Prius four.
Any advice. I heard the Prius V reads DVD.

Do you have the 6.1 or 7.1 system? Mine has the 7.1 system.

That was my thought. I read sumthin a while back that the 6.1 system was music only. Oh well, now you have a reason to spend some bucks and get a nice head unit that does video and would sound & function better than the 7.1 system ;-) My 7.1 isn't going to stay in my car long :)
