Took the family to Hershey Park Sun/Monday. Didn't think about it- but when we parked for the Chocolate World Tour and walked about half way up the parking area- I spotted the two level II free ChargePoint stations that serve four EV charging spots. Each station had two L2 cords and was centrally located between two parking spots- so you could charge four EV's there at one time. All four spots were open- so I went back and moved the PIP and recharged for free while on the Chocolate World Tour. Once the tour was over, I went back and checked- I was still charging- so we did the park preview. We were there for about two hrs total, so when we got back to the PIP it was fully charged. If you look at the google-eye sat photo it looks like the roof of the parking structure is all solar cells- if that's where the power is coming from for the ChargePoint stations- that's even better! Thanks Hershey Park! FWIW- I'm going to send them an email thanking them for the EV charge spots and asking about the solar cell roof.
Thanks for the link! They must have swapped out the yellow coiled cords shown in the online article since it was published- because they now use the standard heavy black cable I've seen at all the other charge stations. AAMOF- the PEP charge stations in the photo have been changed out too- they just have the standard 2-port ChargePoint stations there now. I was very pleasantly surprised all four spots weren't ICED on a busy summer Sunday afternoon. FWIW- 250mi trip from L.I. to Hershey Park- 4 ppl in the PIP, 3 carry-on size bags- one donut spare in the back. Most of the driving on rt 78 was at about 65mph with the AC on the whole trip... ended up with 54mpg both to and from Hershey (about 540mi round trip).
cool! gotta get there some day. maybe tie it in with a car show/auction or that big parts flea market they do. thanks rob!
No need to get excited, there are no signs stopping regular cars from parking in the EV spots. Very disappointing, no worth the detour.
