I've been looking for a 2010 Prius IV with moonroof & nav, and the closest dealers that sell them are over 300 miles away from me. There's one that I like with an asking price of $19,000, and I'm in the process of negotiating the price for the vehicle and my trade. Has anyone purchased a vehicle from a dealer located far away, and what advice would you give someone like myself looking to do this? Pretty tricky when both you and the dealer are working off of just pictures, but the dealers in my area don't seem willing to go out and find what I want because it's not a new car.
Just so you know, some of the Model III's, like mine, come with the sun roof and nav, if that is your main interest. But of course my version doesn't have the other Model IV options if that is what you are interested in.
I haven't bought from far away, but I was will to when I bought mine. I would find out all I can about the car prior to purchase (records, pics, was it bought off auction/trade-in etc). I would also get a firm offer outlining the total costs so there are no surprises. You may want to arrange for a 3rd party to do an inspection. Be prepared to walk if it isn't to your satisfaction. Maybe you can post your location/where you are looking and someone could help you out.
