Ok so I live North of Chicago filled up this morning at $3.65 tonight coming home everyone jacked it to $3.99..................... my butt is sore, stop it!
I start buying gas containers to fill up more when the price is down. A 5 gallon container will save you $2 in this case. Ever since I got the Prius, sometimes I only need to go to the gas station once a month.
I have a 5 gal can for the tractor to mow the yard, I wonder what the MPG of it is? I judge it at 1.5 gal per acre......
I switched over the cordless mower now. I have about 1/3 acre, I could mow the whole thing for about 30 cents of electricity.
Try living north of the border. I did a conversion and we are paying $4.74 a Gallon right now. You've got it good.
Yep, that's why I run my tank down when I go over the border, and fill up on the US side, it's much cheaper. Fuel prices is why I drive a Prius. I traded in my 2009 Lexus RX 350, because I was spending $3,800 a year on fuel. The same distance and fuel prices put me at $1,100 in a Prius. No Brainer.
I hate cords, period. The cordless mower is nice. It runs on a Lithium battery, 40v, powerful yet light. No spark plug, no oil to change and no need to pull start. It runs quiet and not much vibrations compared to the gas mower.
How much time do you get, about 45 min. of cutting time? How long to charge? My trimming with a push mower takes me about 3 hours.
My mower came with 2 batteries, the big one last about 30 mins and the small one about 15 mins. So yes, the total run time is about 45 mins. It takes about 3 hours to charge the big one from empty. I start out with the big battery and run it until it dies, then put it in the charger. I then take the small one to finish the job. If it dies before I finish, I put it in the charger, and then take the partially charged big battery to finish the job. I really like having two batteries since it makes the mower lighter and I could charge while mowing. Are your batteries the lithium type?
Sorry for the confusion I do not have a battery lawn mower. Just gas, I have always wanted a electric battery mower, just didn't think it would work so well. 3 1/2 acres of trimming around trees and shrubs.
I drove to Yosemite over the July 4 weekend. Gas was > $5.00 /gal in many places. Luckily, I was able to go > 100 miles in EV (downhill, recharging) so I didn't need to get gas until I returned to where gas was more reasonable...$3.95 per gal. Mike
Wow. If I had that much land, it'll take me many days to finish the job. I only have 1/3 acre and when I'm in a lazy mood, I only do the front one day and the back the next. Sometimes, I would go out early in the morning when it's still cool and do half the job, and then finish the job in the evening. If you really want to use electric, you could get additional batteries. The reason why I switched over to cordless is because I have a gas tractor and it's due for a tune up. Last time, they charged me over $200 for the work. I said the hell with it, I mind as well use that money for a new electric mower that never need tune ups. The side benefit is that now I can mow the whole lawn a lot cheaper than gas. I estimate no more than 30 cents of electricity.
Did a google conversion and gas just went up to $5.97 a gallon($1.52 per liter) here in vancouver. Beat that! Haha That means if I drive 1240 miles in a month I'll be spending roughly $170 to fuel my prius v!
Fuel in Europe is mostly $USD 7 - 12 a gallon. Yes, you read that right. Anyway, I know how you feel. Fuel jumped 20 cents a gallon, pretty much overnight for me. Had to pay $3.34 a gallon.
