I just spoke with a dealer at Longo because I wanted to not get the navi and install a carputer, but he said that they no longer make any package 6? The only ones now available are 3,7, and 8? Is that for real?
I doubt this is real! but the supply can be a bit random. What he probably should have said is "the only ones I have coming in is #3, #7 or #8" or "i want to push you to buy a #7 or #8 so I'm gonna tell you that you can either get them or a package I know you won't consider #3". I would talk with another dealer if I where you.
It's possible that not all models will be available to all areas. In '05, for example, the only models available in So Cal was #1, #3 & #6 (not the same model you're after as the numbering has changed). Go to http://www.toyota.com/toyotaConfigApp/index.jsp and enter your ZIP code. Changing the ZIP should change what models are avaiable. I nearly got mine in Nevada because of this.
From what I've learned, different areas are allocated different package #s. I originally wanted a #4, but my salesman was having a hell of a time finding one anywhere in our area...so he made me "an offer I couldn't refuse" on my 2006 Barcelona Red Metallic Package #6...and it was just delivered to the dealership this past Saturday. I picked it up on 02/08/06 and she had a whopping 6 miles on her!

On Toyota.com, when you build a Prius and plug in a SoCal zip code (I used 90720), it shows the only package options available in the region are #1, 3, 7 & 8. I know there were more packages available prior to this, and prior to that, there were less packages available. Seems like it keeps changing. Here's a thread about the very topic. I would try to locate a #6 in an region that still carries them, unless you can get your guy at Longo to swap an incoming unallocated Prius for a #6 from another region??
