I can't get over how nice my wife's 2013 Prius Plug-In (Blizzard Pear) looks.

As I looked at the sides of the car, all I could see was a large bullseye for a SUV door to slam the car.
I really didn't want to disturb the lines of the car, but I had to install some molding. I purchased molding from the Prius Chat store and had them professionally installed today at a cost of $70.00.

I think they look good, even though I like the car without molding.

After I had the molding installed, I went to my 2006 Prius and counted the number of times someone opened the door onto the molding. With my finger sliding across the molding, I counted 9 marks and 3 spots where there was a little chip in the molding. I immediately did a touch up.

I now think I made the right choice installing the molding.

You probably don't want to hear this, but here's my two cents......Park where no one else would park and walk further to your destination in the parking lot. I've had my PIP for 14 months and so far no dings (knock on fenders, oops, I mean wood)

    Good advise.
I never park my car near another car. Many times I come out and there are many empty spaces, and a car parks right next to mine. I am sure this has happened to others. On several occasions, I have come out and found a large truck near my car. As extremely careful as I have been with my car, somehow a person has been able to nick the door.

yeah, happens to me too! I park alone and someone cozy's up next to my PIP. But so far they leave enough space to safely open their door:D

Yea! I parked in a large lot, went out past 5 empty rows up against a fence. When I came out a shopping cart was tight up aganist my car, I went oh shit! When I got up to my car I looked and not a scratch not even any dust marks nothing. Just some one being funny I guess! :)

Nice. You installed it yourself? If so, where'd you order it? And any advice for the install? Lining it up, leveling, etc.?

On parking far enough out to not get dinged by other cars, I do that sometimes. But I also try to park next to a Prius or an expensive car that I know the owner is uptight about dinging his/her door.

All that said, I actually have a f*cking ding on my 2012 PiPA, left front fender above the Plug-in badge. Kills me to see it every time I go to open the driver's door. The molding would not have save me there.

That hurts when you have to look at it every time you get in.

Look at it this way. For $70 investment, you can park anywhere you want without worrying for dings.

:)Lifetime, transferable, ironclad guarantee? Note to self: don't quit worrying. Take the advice of those above who park and take the shuttle bus. I recently had a 100% satisfying "painless dent repair" experience. No need to endure ding trauma.

If you have ever noticed that charging stations are not way back in the empty lot, so you will suffer dings at them .
I did install the body side moldings from PriusChat- as I had done on my 2005 Prius- it has a number of dings in the molding- not the car.

Yeah, I have noticed that about charging stations. Lucky for me,:D, I have my own private charging station at my apartment. It's been awhile since I used a public charging station.

Where did you purchase those moldings for $70? I looked in the shop and they want $119 for them.
