After read many posts here, I decided to use toyota oil filter for my future oil change DIY. Looks like many people use eBay and get 10 filter cartridges and oil pan plug washers for ~$40. Because it is a pain to filter the search result on eBay, to ensure I get the right parts, I want to use toyota parts number. there is a TRD high performance oil filter, parts number PTR43-52090. What I need is the conventional one for Prius 2013. Any dealership on eBay you have good experience with?
Hi Huan, When our Prius was new, I bought oil filters, washers, air filters, serpentine belt, PCV, plugs, and water pump all in one purchase from rockAuto.com. Pretty much all the maintenance required for 5 years except for fluids that I buy local. The prices for each part are low, and combining everything together kept the shipping cost down.
Yeh, Rockauto is also my favorite. I bought many things from them for my old car and they sent me 5% coupon now and then. They carry many oil filters. Which one is your favorite? I would like to compare to Toyota oil filter.
Back in 2005 I bought Wix, but that is for a Gen2 Prius. Your Prius uses OEM Oil Filter Kit (04152-YZZA6) Paper Cartridge & Rubber O-Ring Plug Gasket (90430-12028) (From John1701a.com) http://john1701a.com/prius/documents/Prius_Maintenance_Changing-Oil.pdf Do yourself a favor and buy the (Assenmacher, I think) oil filter adapter to get it off the car. And pay attention to seating the oil filter ring correctly. I number among those who did not, and leaked an entire oil change.
