I'm not sure how to say it, but you either bought a wrong car for your needs, or you are way too compulsive about the whole thing.

We all must love these cars or we wouldn't be wasting so much time here..(y)

    But,,,,

It's just similar to,,,, say, you and your buddies or some teammates are out and about!
One of them is acting uncool/weird. You shoot him a glance and say,
" Yo, You're making the rest of us look bad. Cut it out, OK?"

(And from the tech side of looking at this, you are spinning the gears in your transaxle at close to their max motor RPM when you go "62mph". I would love to have a PIP! Plugging in at work is part of the equation, if that is part of your daily commute. Do you do the same on your return trip? You should consider ATF changes.)

You can get a ticket in California for doing 75 in a 65 zone.

In northern California, the ticket will be for speeding.

In southern California, the ticket will be for obstructing traffic.

Same laws, same Highway Patrol. Follow the local convention or you're road kill...

Same in Florida, the 75 year olds are always eyeing the youngsters.

It's a Ford! It's likely the tow truck spun its wheels, isn't that what moves them?

Fed's don't set 18 wheeler speed limits. The individual states do.

In CA, anyone towing anything or three or more axles the max speed limit is 55 MPH. One minute into Nevada on Interstate 15 past Primm and the same vehicles that were limited to 55 can now legally go 75.

Agreed, the truck driver is trying to minimise his fuel consumption too. Keep it smooth y'all!

Yeah, going 10 under doesn't fly in California. I'd be dead if I did 61 on the 5. I'd really rather not test out my crumple zones.

Actually, it is speed differential that kills.

Whether in traffic, or when striking (or trying to avoid) another moving or immovable object.

"Safe and reasonable" is not just a speed limit, it means going with the flow.

This is why "slow pokes" (left lane or otherwise) are so inherently dangerous -- no matter what they drive (or ride).

The joke (and need to clean up the sh*t) is clearly on the dinosaur driver.

I grew up in, and learned to drive in Europe, and have a lot of experience on German autobahns among other roads. Over there, if you drive slowly, you stay in the slow lane. The fast lane is for people going faster, and that convention is respected by all. If you are driving more slowly in the fast lane, and someone quicker approaches from behind, you better move over or they will be up your rear flashing lights. This works, people move quickly out of the way usually, unlike this country where I have come up on rolling road blocks with people who will NOT move over, even when you are plainly wanting to pass. That attitude makes for impatience on the part of faster drivers all round. If lane discipline was better understood and maintained over here, driving more slowly would be better tolerated.

This is one of many hot topics where people have strong opinions of both sides. Unfortunately, neither side ("go fast" vs "drive the speed limit") will be able to convert the other side that their way is better. In the end, the diehards will continue arguing their point for pages because "Damit! I'm right and you are wrong".

Let's see how long this thread goes on for until it dies. I predict 7 pages of back and forth.

    Guesses?

    Carry on...

No, you both are wrong. :ROFLMAO:

BTW, we were talking about making a Prius an obstacle on the road by driving less than the posted speed limit.
And Sharing the Love that generates with the rest of us normal Prius drivers. ....

Why? What is your definition of normal? Why should others be expected to accept your definition of normal?
Personally I think "normal" needs to be redefined to include being, not distracted, curtious, patient, and relaxed.
