Very nice job & info:) . I'm waiting on my camera & it should be here anytime so maybe a little too late for this ? but, are those colored lines integrated in the M & D unit that can be accessed w/ any camera or is it limited to a certain camera u buy?

So I have a slight problem with streaming BT stereo. Sometimes, the quality just sucks. It's like the treble/mids are straight in the dumps and the bass is super high making it next to impossible to listen to music. If I change it from custom to flat, it works fine.

Furthermore, if I switch it to my CD/UBS, it works fine and then 'resets' it for the BT stereo. Anyone run into this problem?

Answering calls via BT is a bit clunky as well. Doesn't seem to work very well. Any thoughts on that?

I got mine to work. Only problem is that when I select an artist or album, it just plays starting with the first song. It doesn't show the song so that I can select through them. I just press the ">" button to change songs without knowing which one it is. Is this how yours works.

I saw firsthand that evpv M & D works w/ his ipod & it did show the artist & song, the only negative being that it didn't show the whole title or artist which makes it the more frustrating that I can't get mine to work at all. How did u get it to work Kenny?

I exchanged my headunit with bluetooth problems at M&D's facility in San Bernardino today. Nice friendly people, no hassles, no charge. Bluetooth and everything else works on the new one.

I was trying to shorten the boot-up time of the M&D unit today to see if I could reduce the time it takes for my rearview camera to show. The stock SDHC card from M&D is 2GB and I'm guessing it's not Class 10 speed because it's rare to find Class 10 in small capacity cards.

So I tested the boot-up speed using 3 different SDHC cards today. With the stock M&D 2GB card it took 11.4 sec to boot to the "main" screen. I moved the same data to a SanDisk Extreme 8GB Class 10 card and it took 10.5 sec to boot. I also tried a Monster 8GB Class 10 card and it took about the same as the SanDisk.

Not much improvement, but if you have a spare Class 10 card sitting around you can throw it in and save a whopping .9 sec each time you turn the car on.

Update: The nav section must read a hidden code on the original SDHC card because my aftermarket card is giving me a registration warning to call M&D for the nav registration. Going back to the stock card.

I just joined this forum. I bid $300 for the M&D head unit and it was accepted last night. I have been reading all of the comments on this unit. especially the installation notes. I should have the unit by the end off the week and hopefully everything will go as planned. I will be installing a backup camera but I will just use the license plate mounting. I will run a blue #18 wire from the backup lamp to power both the camera and the head unit while in reverse. I thank everyone here on this forum for the information they have provided. I will comment further after the unit is installed and tested. By the way it is going into a 2012 without factory nav or JBL.

No it is grey, actually the present radio is a darker shade of grey than the rest of the dash. I need to explore more about the installation of the back up camera in the hatch back. It looks like it could be interesting. Do those panels just "pop" out of there ? I'm not concerned with the electrical just the physical problems.

Yes, they do pop out of there. Just be careful as I broke a couple clips forcing them out:( .

I have had the M&D unit for about three weeks now. While I thought it was OK when I first got it, I find that as I become more familiar with the unit, I like it more. For the $290 that I paid for it, I consider it an excellent value. Some observations: 1) Better sound than the stock head unit. The improvement was enough that my daughter remarked on the improvement in quality. She is not normally a critical listener. 2) The bluetooth connection seems to be stable and robust. When I have made calls using it, the audio quality has been excellent at my end and at the listener's end. I decided not to mount the microphone, but instead clip the mic to my lapel when I am using it. Using it for music has resulted in good sound. The drawback here is that the bluetooth music is reached only through the main menu. There is no dedicated button. Consequently it can take a couple of "clicks" to get to it. 3) I have not been successful using a standard disk drive through the USB port, but it works quite well using a 64GB USB thumb drive. The interface for this is via the DVD button by hitting it twice. It can take some time for it to load the directory information. The interface is a bit clunky, but it works. 4) The gps works well. A reviewer on Amazon complained about zooming and not having it remain at the selected zoom level. I have found this is not true. I have it set for 256 feet and it has remained there ever since I set it 10 days ago. It is important to have the time set properly because it seems to adopt the day/night settings based on the time. 5) I installed a backup camera and found that it works well. The boot time on first start up is a bit longer than I would like, but it is not so long that I find it to be a problem. After the unit has booted, the camera will turn on after about three seconds. I used a $20 CCD camera I bought from a seller on ebay. Works very well in all light conditions. Installing it was non-trivial. Overall, I recommend it. I think there are better units, but they are massively more expensive.

Witson? You can get the M&D nav headunit on eBay, search for NV7TPR1. Best offer goes for $290 last time someone tried.

Which panels? The black ones on the inside of the hatch are held on by multiple white plastic body clips. There are 2 aqua colored ones that present more of a problem as they are brittle. Once I finally got them out, I put some silicon grease on them so if I ever needed to get in there again, they would pop out more easily.

If you are referring to the "Hybrid" panel (exterior below small window), there are 4 nuts that must come off before you pop it off the rear of the hatch. It makes installing the camera in the OEM blank much easier. Good luck.
