I'm interested to see results from four choices. This poll is for Prius liftback and Plug-in Prius drivers only. Please don't vote for your Prius c or v, they have different dimensions. Not interested in how much you tilt the wheel, just your preferred telescope setting. Thanks.
Toyota should have allotted at least 3 more inches out on the telescoping feature. Now the tilt, I'm currently working on a mod that should lower it substantially.
For a tall guy, I'm surprised I didn't require the steering wheel all the way out. I do have long arms (useful for intercepting passes in basketball hehe) so that's probably why. I've tried both all the way in, and about midway out. All the way in puts me a little close to the dash, especially my knees so I've opted to sit further back and hence pull the steering wheel out in my current setting. I've also lowered the seat one or two pumps from before so the wheel needed to come out further.
Ok, this is going to sound like a dumb question... but do all Prius' have a telescoping steering wheel? I've never tried to pull it out, just push it up and down.. I've always been annoyed at how close it is to the dash.. it'll be funny if all this time I could have pulled it out towards me.. I have a 2013 Persona. (I'll have to try this of course when I leave work today) -Keith
In US all Gen 3 Prius' have telescoping steering wheel adjustment, tilt too, 2010 model and later. v and c Prius too. Not sure about other countries, but likely the same. I hope it adjusts up well for you. Are you tall, long legs? btw, I've found following a good guideline for steering wheel reach: Lay hand on top of wheel sitting normal with back against seatback, with straight arm, wrist or heel of palm should be close to top of wheel, not up the arm or up the palm. Found some good videos for saving the back and body while driving - Links to Driving Position Adjustment for Safety and Comfort | PriusChat good luck!
I'm definitely not tall but I feel like I have to sit way too close for my hands to comfortably reach the wheel... My legs are cramped... If I can pull the wheel out toward me so I can move the seat back that would be awesome... I'll try it on the way home... I'm 5'7"
