No, it's time to either have your dealer dig deeper or get rid of the car.

    The Critic,

Thanks. I decided you're right and took the car in today. They have to find the problem, whatever it is. There must be a leak somewhere in the brake system. Brakes are too important to take a chance on.

This implies that the real problem is not the actuator. However, you have a 1 year warranty on the work that they did. If the noise is back, don't just live with it, take it in and have the same tech look at it. In fact, INSIST that the same tech look at it.

The mechanic at the dealer reported the brakes as operating normally, of course. The Toyota rep is being contacted for any concern I might have. I am driving the car now and it is normal under normal braking. If I really brake hard, I can make the "bark" happen. I assume air is getting into the system at some point. The new actuator may have lessened the problem. I can live with things as they are as long as it doesn't get worse. I can not live with it if the car barks every time I brake. Time will tell, I guess. I think if Toyota cannot or will not find the source of the air then they should pay for all future brake bleeding.

    Hi everyone, Eoin,

I spent several hours searching thru Priuschat forums, trying to find the closest description of the noise problem I am having. It looks like Eoin is one of the closest matches. I think I saw some other very close ones, but unable to repeat the search to find them again (I think the forum's search tool is not working properly: at one time it returns 7-8 results for the certain kewords, but next time no results at all for the same keywords. anyone noticed this ?)

So, here is the description of my problem.
This happens almost every time (80% cases) I bring the vehicle to stop. As you know, in order to get a smooth stop, we usually start releasing the break pedal gradually as the vehicle speed comes to 0. So when I am almost stopped, I hear several barking noises from break pedal (also feeling the vibration from the pedal) while I release the pedal. I am even able to cause these noise to repeat, right after completely stopping, when I push and release the break pedal a few times. The noise comes every time I release the pedal.
This issue started almost right after purchasing my Prius on Aug, 2010. And gradually it's getting worse: recently, sometimes I can hear this sound even after parking the car, exiting and closing the door. Plus, when driving, even if it does not make the noise I can feel the uncomfortable vibration and airy sound when stopping. It's like everyone in the car is slightly shaking at complete stops.

Before I post about my 3 visits to Toyota dealerships, I'd like to confirm: a) if Eoin and others are/were experiencing the same noise as me (see attached zip with 3 sound files that I recorded while driving. file #02 is the best catch); and b) if the majority of 2010 Prius III owners do NOT have this problem.

Thanks in advance for your responses !

Did Anyone Figure out what the problem and solution was with the above brake noise. What is the solution if experiencing a similar problem when braking and coming to a stop.

I'm experiencing a brake noise on my new-to-me 2010 II. Luckily, it is certified so if there are any issues, it should be covered by warranty. I believe I've heard this noise at least once during hard stopping, but it generally happens after coming to a complete stop and then releasing the brake. It evens happens a couple of times after turning off the car and depressing the brakes and letting them up. It is a hard to describe noise, but almost sounds like a loud creaking or squeaking noise. Hakobh, if you see this, could you try reposting the zip with the noises that your brakes are making? I'm unable to open this zip file. Also, any updates on your issue?

Thanks for the post friendly_jack. I just checked and my II does not appear to be part of the recall. I'll probably end up making an appointment at the dealer to find out what is causing this.
