[Broken External Image]:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/rancid13/prius2.jpg 2006 Black #8 w/bisque leather interior, purchased at Longo Toyota at MSRP. I'm elated. Love love love this car!! Thoughts after ~45 miles... Good: *Smooth, quiet ride *Quick acceleration, especially getting on the freeway I was impressed at how quick I was able to get to freeway speeds *Super bright headlights; I thought the highbeams were on at first! They're awesome! *Display design-love that the mph is in my line of sight *Navi rocks! *Excellent turn radius *I love how most of the control functions are so intuitive *SKS *Consumption screen. I love it! Somehow after the first 8 miles (before delivery to me) the mpgs were at 12.9 WTH?? I've managed to get it up to 34.3 slowly but surely since. *I won't have to stop by a gas station for at least 1.5 weeks, minimum Bad: *View out the rear hatch, but I'll get used to it *This car has ruined me for all other possible future vehicles I was also pleasantly surprised about the dash material. I know the 04-05's have a smooth dash and someone on here was mentioning how much they disliked the textured material on the new 06 dash, like it was too grooved or rough or something was not to their liking. So I was worried about it, but as soon as I saw the car up close and in person all worries disappeared. I hardly even notice the texturing of the dash, so it doesn't even matter to me that it's not as smooth as a baby's butt because seriously, I can hardly tell anyways.
YEAH!!!! You FINALLY got your Prius!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree on that fact that now it's going to be hard to ever drive another car after getting the Prius! Congratulations!!!! Tracy Now where's Jack so you can let him know you weren't bsing us about getting a Prius
Those first 8 miles are full of tons of stops and starts. Off the assembly line, onto a train (or truck), off the train (or truck), on/off a ship, into/out of a consolidation yard, back on/off a truck, around the dealership, into the carwash area,......you get the idea. Congrats on the new car, looks nice.
Congrats Rancid13! (Ditto ditto ditto ditto ditto) x 2 Also, I love all the storage compartments, the ride quality, the mp3 CD capability, the quietness of the ride at cruising and how fast the AC heats up the car! Agreed, but the rear-view camera more than makes up for it when parallel parking in really tight spots. That's my major drawback too. Since we need to replace our second car sometime this year, I've resigned myself to leasing something and holding out until the Prius Gen III comes out, or something else as accomodating as the Prius. I haven't entirely ruled out getting a second Prius yet though I had complained about this too after seeing the '06s - but it actually is really nice. Once again, congrats! Dave
Watch out I'm hooked on staying on top of my consumption screen! I drive in ways to work to get my numbers up!

Thanks everyone! I seriously am in love with this thing. I took my boss for a quick spin around the block when I came to work this am. I keep asking him if I could just leave the office for a little while to go drive it. He says I'm obsessed. My husband called me and admitted to having spent an hour in my car last night after I went to bed, fiddling with the electronics and setting up my Bluetooth. I can't wait till my lunch break, I'm gonna drive the whole hour long most likely. Maybe take a drive along PCH and check out the waves. And to top off the good Prius news, I sold my Saturn last night on Ebay, just a few hours after listing it. Dude paid the $500 paypal deposit and is coming by tonight to pay the remaining balance and take the car away. And hello to my fellow black-Prius-driving gals galaxee and tracysbeans!!
Congrats! I know you've been wanting it for waaaaaaay too long!!! As for looking out the rear, I thought the same thing at first, BUT, it's actually handy to have that bar in the way: 1. It blocks people's headlights at night, and 2. If you ever experience frost, the rear winshield will frost up, but not below the bar, thereby allowing you immediate visibility.
Heh heh...I was just going to say that!!!!! But I mirror the remarks of the second sentence. Congrats - I know the anticipation and wait was well worth it!!!
heh heh I'll bet your husband slowly falls in love with that car and gets one of his own. Welcome to the club The Black Prius Chick gang will need black leather jackets, don't you think?
Yea! A new Prius! Thirteen cheers for Jennifer! I think you'll go for lunch and forget to come back. It's interesting to hear the rumour confirmed: Once you've tried black, you'll never go back. I'm envious. PS Don't flame me for being racist, it's meant as a compliment.
Congratulations - just make sure you don't let the MFD take your attention away from outside. Prius drivers are generally more relaxed, but there are still crazies out there.
Congratulations!! Obviously, we all know what you're feeling. I picked my Prius up about 180 miles from where I live, so I got a nice scenic drive across western Washington during which I came to appreciate my new car. The view out the back can be improved by adding one of those fresnel lenses you see on the back of RV's (see other post on this subject or contact me, Bob Allen, off chatline, and I can tell you how to get one and install it. It hugely improves visibility out the rear, especially when parking. ([email protected]) The worst blind spot, for me anyway, is not out the rear, but out the passenger side front end. The windshield/roof pillar easily hides cars coming from your right, or pedestrians stepping off a curb. Depending on how high you sit in the driver seat, your vision out the side will be blocked to some extent. I just got used to dropping my head slightly to see around the pillar. The Prius is stunning in black. Bob
