Installed Clazzio Seat Covers

I met Rodney (HawaiianBuilt) at the TGB4 event last week and purchased a full set of leather Clazzio seat covers from him. I chose to install the dark grey Clazzio covers into my Misty Grey interior. My decision to go with the dark grey covers (instead of the light grey) was because I wanted to match the seats to the JDM steering wheel and to the door panels.

In case anyone is still on the fence, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. These covers fit much better than any seat covers that I have ever used, and the finished product is closer to the quality of a Katzkin job than a set of seat covers. Also, I chose to remove the door seals and the rear seatbacks for installation; this is not required but I feel that it allows for a better fit of the rear seatback and sidewing pieces.

Lastly, since the perforated leather is uncoated, it is important to protect the leather immediately after installation. The Meguiars Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner is a white gel that will not leave white deposits on the perforated leather surfaces. You can find it at any auto parts store, but be sure to get the version with a pump since there are other Gold Class Leather products that are completely different. After application of this product, the seats felt noticeably softer - so don't delay!

I applied the Meguiars product to a foam pad for that exact reason. This way, the product remains on the surface and does not drip into the foam.

It was great to meet you as well. You had the lowered IV with the carbon fiber roof that was on display, right?

I have not had a chance to contact the Toyota guy, but I will do so soon.

Each of the rear seatbacks are held on by two 14mm bolts (one on each side) and an alignment tab on each bracket. The bracket is sort of in the way when you try to wrap the cover around the lower portion of the seat back, so I think removing the seatbacks makes the job easier.

The door seals are a simple press-on– just pull them off the door jamb area. When installing the sidewing pieces, wrap the clazzio around the top and side of the cover (the side facing the seat), then bolt it in place, and finish off by tucking the outward-facing side of the cover into the door seal groove. When you are all done, then replace the door seal.

I plan to apply the Meguiars product monthly.

I did the whole job over the course of a weekend. This was my first time doing the job. I spent about 4 hr on a Fri night and another 4 hr on a Sunday night.

The instructions that came with the kit are pretty good, I would just advise removing the rear seatbacks and door seals in addition. Also pay attention to the arrow that the rear seatbelt brackets point…IIRC they should point towards the front of the car.
