The Prius has good heat gain it needs to have the windows tinted who has and what % do you think it needs please send pictures and comments
Find a tint shop that can demonstrate the 3M Crystalline tint. It is incredible! But an expensive upgrade. I had just the back window and the windshield header done with the Crystalline. I used a lower level 3M matching tint on the side windows. With the Crystalline you don't need a dark tint to keep the heat out.
Yes all the windows, except main part of windshield of course. It was $280. Lifetime warranty at any 3M dealer. But get the demonstration about the 3M Crystalline tint. It is truly incredible !!
I did the 3M tint on mine 5% on all windows. I love it but I should have done the windshield with the clear. The amount of heat that comes through the giant windshield is horrible. Total cost $220.
Yes- I got 32% on front side windows and 13% on rest. I just did a strip across the top of windshield. (Laws here limits tint on front sides and windshield.) Cost about $120, but got a good deal because shop did some damage to plastic parts on my old Gen II. No problems this time. Tint makes a big difference, well worth the $.
I just got mine done this weekend... 35% on the front windows (legal limit) 20% over the rest of the vehicle, including the sunroof, and a 5" strip on the windshield. Lifetime warranty on everything. Was a little north of 2 bills...
Did 15% all around minus the Windshield. Huge difference especially right near da beach Boy-eeee!! Been passed up by LASD, LAPD and CHP. So far, so good.
I went 35% on sides and 20% on back and front(strip). Ceramic tints have changed the need to get darker tints. Per tint shop, 90% ceramic = 20% regular tint in terms of heat rejection. It's so light, they put in on the front windshield! Costly though but I'm sure prices will come down in the future.
The ceramic and crystalline films are great technology, but they fall short in eliminating glare. I'm probably going with the 3M 20% because I really want to darken the interior, and because it just looks cool. Its also cheaper and installs much quicker. Living in the desert will do that to you, part of feeling comfortable is being out of the glare.
I agree that the Prius does let a lot of sun heat in. I have 35% all around and the heat is bearable when I get into sun parked car w/o solar vent system on. Southern California.
within the first week i too went and got my window tinted. than to the net i went to variosu sites and found the Best place in Portland, or ( or at least the best place based on the reviews i looked at. Since the rules are different per state i did not want to mess so got the legal darkest on all sides including the back lower window and it was around 200 buck and work every penny. i have the solar package and it really stay cool.
