I managed to get my hands on a set of Persona Rims and have been trying to decide on what tires I wanted to mount on them. I've read some good reviews for the Michelin Primacy MXM4 but they are only available in 215/45/17. I was thinking about going with 205/50/17's as I have read that they will be smoother, give better gas mileage and fill the wheel well better. Has anyone gone this route? What brands/makes did you consider and has there been an impact to your gas mileage? Thanks
I have been running 205/50r17 on my gen3 for about a year now. It works well and seems to keep the speedometer true. But gas mileage has suffered about 3 to 4 mpg. I went with yokohama yk588
Well, I decided to go with the MXM4 Primacy's. Discount Tire beat an online price I found and they had a promo for a $100 Pre-Paid Visa card to boot. So what pressure should I have them inflate the tires too?
I had the tires & rims installed today and I immediately noticed the difference in both appearance and performance. The ride is defiantly more harsh, but the car is more stable at higher speeds and there is just a tad bit more noise when braking. All in all, I think the improvement in looks makes up for the harsher ride.
