I saw the same when I was down in Socal.. a 5mpg improvement on the congested freeways.. Prius is build for traffic but not hills. Hills around here kills good mpg.

So, if I fill in 9 gals, at that point it still has 3 gals remaining.

Why the meter shows otherwise then (only 1 bar)

I have noticed the same, and I thought the tank was 11.5 not 11.9. Does that mean my Fuelly averages are not correct? I guess its better than my old GenII, which would fill up to 10.5 gallons on some fuelups, and 9.75 on others (because of the bladder-style fuel tank)

Huh? The gallons you enter onto Fuelly is not size of your tank but amount you filled up. It only works if you filled up fully on last fill up of course. Of course there is an accuracy variance but overtime it averages out.

If you entered tank size, you mpg calc. should be way.

Scape goat? Don't need to look too far.. just down and to the right? ;)

42.2 and only 3 fill ups on a 2010? You need mo' data points!

I put 3k miles on in the first month (turnaround to Vegas being the main culprit) but yes, I definitely need more data. Give me your home address so I can switch out my 17" pkg 5 rims for your Personas while you're sleeping and ill remember to track my fuelups ;)

I added the Fuelly badge. Last Fill up inched up 47.12 over 400 miles.
Last trip I got 63 mpg over 35 miles. So I am learning.

But these traffic jams do suck up lots of potential.

    63! wow!

I found if the traffic is flowing at the right speed, it improves my mpg.. but I guess that's relative. Sweet speed range I found was between 20-40mph.

DSC_8414.JPG DSC_8414.JPG My mileage has improved on the fourth tank... 44.5 mpg. Maybe it was the ride on the Balboa Island Ferry that helped.

Latest fuelup 432.1 mi 8.45 gal 51.1 MPG
significant improvement. Some trips I achieved between 55-61 mpg others close to 49-51. I think it depends on slope a lot, sure not avoidable.

Some guy here at work got the Persona Prius. He says he's supposed to use hi-test rather than regular. I have been unable to find anything other than to use 87 octane in any Prius.

Was this a salesman blowing smoke or is there a real need for 91 octane?

never heard of "hi-test" before. I guess that's premium or 91 octane. Persona has same motor as all other Prius so lots of smoking going on here.
