No voice guidance from my navigation - Urgent help needed

    Hello all,

    My name is Kelvin and I am a newbie. I just bought my 2013 Prius/Pkg 3 (Pearl White) about a month ago and I am loving it so far :)

    I have a question and hopefully someone can show me how to fix it.

    The voice guidance of my navigation stopped working all in a sudden. I can see the graphic directions and but no verbal guidance. I can only get the voice guidance if I press the speaker icon on the bottom left hand corner (by the way the voice level is all the way up)

    Can someone give me some directions how to re-enable the voice guidance feature if it got disabled somehow? or at least reset the nav settings to factory default?

    I know it looks like the Gutenberg Bible but you might want to refer to your guide. Not only will it help you with the settings, it can be interesting reading. I'm sure if you look in the index under "Voice Guidance" you find what you you need.

    I appreciated your response BZzap! Thank you :)

    Just that you know I have read through the owner's manual (I have also searched all over the internet including Priuschat but still couldn't find the answer and that's why I posted the question. Someone has posted the exact same problem on Priuschat in the past but looks like the problem wasn't resolved.

    I couldn't post a link to the old post but if you search on Priuschat for the word "Voice Guidance in Prius three stopped working" you will find the tread.

    (By the way, I didn't update Entune. It has whatever version it came with the car out of the factory)

    I also called the Toyota support hotline today and they couldn't figure that out.

    I then stopped by my dealer today and they had 2 techs looked at it for me but still couldn't re-enable it for me. I have to go back next week after my road trip tomorrow and drop off the car to them to look further.

    I wish it was just as easy as just reading the manual and get the answer.

    I followed the link you provided and searched for the manual on the Toyota site for 2013 Prius and it came up with the same PDF that you listed so I thought I got the right file for my car. But for some reason, the PDF shows there is a "Voice" setting icon listed under "Setup" (Page 53, step2) but I don't have it in my nav. This is the exact setting that I have been looking for to enable/disable Voice Guidance but it is missing in my case.

    Any idea?

    There are at least 2 different nav systems for the '12+ Prius. I suggest you go to Toyota Online Owners Manuals and Warranty and select your Prius, go to the 2nd tab for the nav manuals and type in voice. See if you can find the appropriate nav manual section for yours.

    Again, it REALLY sucks that they're broken up into separate files. Dumb!

    I wish I could help but the nav systems changed a LOT starting w/the '12 model year. I looked at the nav on a '12 Prius Three and the PiP before. It was totally different than mine and was very different than the nav you'd find a Lexus HS or 2010 Prius.

    In my 2012 manual, in the "Navigation Section II", PAGE 45, there is a small icon of a speaker in the far left column that displays during a navigation route. This toggles your "Voice Guidance" control and volume settings.? Have you tried diddling with this function. Maybe it is as simple as your volume being set at zero. +0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 etc.

    BZZap!, thanks again for your help.

    The volume of the nav was set to all the way to the max. In fact, I can get the voice guidance *only* if I pressed on the speaker icon. I started to believe the nav on the 2012 and 2013 models are different units.

    I am going to drop off my car to the dealership tomorrow so that they will have more time to figure that out for me.

    Update:

    The tech at the dealership decided to run a software update to the nav and that took care of the problem. I asked the service manager what I could have done wrong and he confirmed that wasn't an user error. Nothing that I could have possibly done wrong on my part. It was just a bug in the software for the nav and that update is supposed to fix that problem. I am not sure if I can believe that was really the case but I am happy to get my car back in working condition.

    I'm having the same problem. I'm taking my 2013 series 3 in next week. But right now I'm not feeling good about my dealership fixing the techie stuff.
