I just drove my Prius C 312.4 miles on country roads, in town and on the freeway. I topped off my gas tank with 5.5 gallons that comes out to an MPG of 56.8 I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome! Check out some hypermiling vids if you're looking to get even higher fuel economy. (Do it, you know you want to!) Can you get by with going 55-60 mph on the highway, where you are? P.S. I just noticed you've been a member since May 20 - exactly one year earlier as me
It's such an awesome feeling right?! I was able to get 60 mpg tonight driving my brother's friends home and back which was about a 20 min commute so I was pretty happy however I'm still working on doing better on the hwy to/from work because I average right now between 48-50 mpg so I'm really hoping I can improve that! It's all about trial & error, figuring out the best routes/methods and driving smart
Check out the vedios on YouTube.com: How to drive the Prius C for increase mileage. Also, increase your tire pressure to 40 PSI for increasing your future MPG. You should be able to increase your future MPG to 60. Welcome to the Prius C family.
The best method you could observe on the highway would be to slow down. There is a big drop between 60-65 mph.
Hmm.. My highway commutes are usually short with a few stop lights. I've never hit more than 60 mph. When I get to the part where it's going to be awhile before the next traffic light I use the glide method which helps a lot. However, I feel like whenever I'm at a stop light and it turns green, I have to be careful and not gun the acceleration and be in the "red" zone, but at the same time not want to hold back the cars that are behind me. Is that what's holding back my mpg?
Probably too many stops. Even though this car is great for stop and go... if you add too many stops it will suffer.
I've tried 2 different routes when I go to work. The back road takes a bit longer to get there but I get a better mileage going that route.
During my daily 50 mile commute to work I have noticed that staying in the far right lane allows you to keep your speed lower and steadier when starting from a light. All the SUV rabbits like to stay in the left lane constantly hitting there brakes while trying to drive as fast as poosible. Funny how you end up right next to them at the next light. When you drive the Prius C your fuel mileage is never going to be good enough.
