Hello all, I think im set but wanted to stop by here and ask for your opinion. 2005 silver one owner - 122k miles - navigation - blutooth - keyless start - HID and fog lights 2007 sage green one owner (Not sage green but silver pine mica....learning the colors) - 160k miles - keyless start - backup camera - new battery installed April 2013 Both will be about same price. I dont like the green, but thats the one im favoring mainly due to battery being replaced. Should I be concerned by the miles? anks in advance -D
Regarding the 2007, does "new battery" refer to the 12V battery or the traction battery? If the former, that would not swing my decision one way or the other. If the latter, have you seen the receipt that shows the battery is actually new, and not sourced from a salvage yard? In both cases, you should have a four-digit repair fund set aside because eventually either car will need repairs. If you have to depend upon your local Toyota dealer for service, installing new parts, watch out.
w battery would be traction battery. Local shop did it with new oem battery. Was a $3k bill. d thanks for the feedback.
Is the cost identical? I personally would go for the 2005 because I really couldn't stand driving around in sage green but that is a personal preference. I like having on board navigation, but keep in mind that there may be an upgrade cost involved if you want current maps. The 2005 sounds just like mine (package 5) just a different color. I jut replaced my HV battery at 141k. The guy at reinvolt said they have seen a lot of 05-06 batteries fail.
I picked up the 07 silver pine mica last night, color wasnt as bad in person.. She had every single service record from dealer and battery still has 10 month warranty on it since it was just replaced in April. So far its more peppier then what it shows on paper (was expecting alot worst). Still getting use to the absolute silence of the electric motor when stopped. And also was able to get it for $150 cheaper then the 05 model.
No problem at all. I picked it up for $7500. Guy with 05 would not budge at $7650. Asking price was $7900 on the 07 and $8300 on the 05.
Don't forget to check why the Traction battery failed... Dead Hybrid battery? Look for the root cause.. | PriusChat
Good point. I will see if I can get to the fan to check. She does live out in the country and very dusty. Inside and under engine
I did look at the receipt again and it shows 0.5 hrs charged for cleaning the battery cooling fan. So thats a good sign. Also show price for two batteries. One being OEM main hybrid battery for $2502 and a R&R Main Hybrid baytery for $293. Is that the 12v battery?
Sounds to me like the $2502 is for the actual traction battery itself and the $293 for the labor to remove and replace the traction battery. The 12 volt usually runs in the neighborhood of $200 with $50 to $175 labor for installation of the 12 volt. Different dealers will give different quotes on labor to swap the 12 volt.
