As I was researching to replace my interior lights with LED, I learned that not all my exterior lights were LED. Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears the only LEDs on the outside are the main headlamps (also know was the DRL?).

    Can someone confirm the following:
    1. Only the main DRL is LED
    2. High beams, Fog Lights and Turn light are not LED
    3. What is below the turn signal (circled below). It looks LEDish, but it doesnt seem to light up.

Also, to the admins I got an "unspecified error" when I tried to post. It actually did post, but then threw an error. I noticed a few dupe posts so I assume a few others are having this issue too.

Your DRLs and low-beam headlights are LED

The high beams, fog lights, and turn signals are NOT LED (you can also add reverse light, license plate light, and front corner marker - the one behind the yellow/orange reflector in your headlights, are also NOT LED)

The circled part below ARE your DRLs. The arrow/v shaped thing at the top of the headlight IS LED and those are part of the Advanced package's parking lights.

The DRLs should light up when your headlights are off and the DRLs are turned on/enabled on the stalk.

You got it all right except the part you circled is LED (4 I believe) and that's your DRLs. Your low beams are LEDs and only for low beams.

:)I would prefer all LED lights, both exterior and interior from the factory. At least they did the most important ones on the Plug In Advance, low beam headlights, tail lights, and the DRLs. Most other lights are a quick and inexpensive aftermarket fix.

Toyota/Lexus factory high beams are ALWAYS halogen, usually a 9005 bulb. HID/LED is low beam only when it comes to headlights. I suspect they are having trouble achieving the necessary lumens to meet the DOT spec for high beams. I had DOT legal HID conversions on my MR2 Turbo, and they actually used the HID low beam in conjunction with a halogen H3 in order to achieve a DOT legal high beam.

Don't forget bi-xenon headlamps exist (low/high HIDs)... e.g. Gen 2 Prius or 2G IS. They're achieved using a shutter to switch between low and high beam illumination.

The good thing is that the Toyota low beam LEDs ars so bright- you hardly ever need the high beams.
I now have the Base PIP- no LED's just std halogen low beams- they suck. Swapping them out for HID's was one the first mods I performed.
