Congratulations. Here's some good press on the car. 2013 Toyota Prius V is a real economical family hauler - National Autos | Examiner.com iPhone ?
I This is the same one I am considering. Do you mind my asking how much you paid? I don't mean to be rude, but it would be helpful to know what others are paying.
I just bought a Prius v three and paid $25,700 (including the carpeted mats for front/back/cargo) plus t&l. That seems to be about the going rate in my area. 0% interest for 36 months was nice as well.
S Sticker was $29,400 - we paid $27,400 and got good value for a trade in. Had option of another $1000 offf of price or 0% for 60. 0% was better for us.
I haven't had the car 24 hours yet and that backup beep is driving me nuts........ The book says the dealership can turn it off- is there a way to do that from home? Also- what is a good price for the 5 year 100k mile extended warranty? Last question for now- is the prepaid maintenance worth doing? I'm thinking no but wanted other opinions.
Most places say don't buy the extended warranty but it's your call. I only put about 9,000 miles a year on mine so the warranty didn't make sense for me unless it was 10/100k. as I probably will hit the 10 year mark before the 100k.
According to Edmunds, the average price paid for this vehicle in my zip code is $25,985 (plus the mats which retail for $225 but most dealers will sell them at their cost) so I did pretty good. I probably could have got another $100-$200 off if I pushed it but I know those guys weren't making much on the deal (I think the hold back is about $600 and that price was already almost $1100 under invoice.) The dealer I bought it from is a high volume dealer (1,000 cars a month) so I think they are used to not making a lot per car. They also had 46 prius v's in stock which was great as most places did not have the color/model I wanted and generally had less than 10 in stock.
If you have an ODBII programmer, yes. I use the scangauge II, but there is also an android app. PriusChat Shop : ScanGauge II Scan Tool + Digital Gauges + Trip Computers [ScanGaugeII] - $159.95
If you have an Android phone or tablet with bluetooth, you can just get a cheap OBDII bluetooth adaptor for $20 on ebay. $5 for the Torque App. Gen III custom PIDs should work on Prius v.... to turn off the reverse beep, seat belt beep, etc...
I had to figure pre-paid maintenance during the 'contract writing' process. Put the meeting on hold, went down and got cost for each service. Turns out the PPM costs the same a paying one by one. Benefit to PPM is pay no sales tax and safeguarded against rising cost of maintenance vistis. I got it plus can cancel it later.
