Heeeeeello prius chat !!! Yes I'm new to the site and the car. However I have been reading a lot about the cars and well , I think they are pretty cool . Now that I have one. I have seen a lot of cool cars here and all the mods done to them. So I just knew I would have to do a couple of mods to my whip, so with decided to go with an 18 X 7.5 wheel from ...... FIVE AD S6:F. 45 offset . And a yes , yes 225/45/18...
Am I crazy, NO. I'll tell you why, first I wanted a almost stock wheel with some flare. Five Ad of course.
Didn't want to lower the car, because I'm 43 years young with a family. Any how mounted the 225/40/18 and if I lowered the car it would look great. However , didn't want to lower the car and told the wheel guy to put the next size up (225/45/18) and it LOOKED great !!! :) Filled the wheelwell nicely. The ride is very smooth. But most of all ......... NO RUBBING at ALL !!!! Not on U-turns ,dips , driveways, etc.
Now did I loose some mpgs yes !! However coming from a chevy truck that was getting. 14.8 MPGs
ILl take 39.5-40.9 MPGs all day long !!!!
I have begone the light mods. Wheels and tires of course. Light tint on the windows. My fog lamp kit arrived today and will be installed by tommy in El Monte (thanks Hawaiian built) also picked up a rear TRD sway bar .
Led lights in the cabin and exterior. Want to put HIDs lights and O-NEX is at the top of the list. Thoughts?
Will be wrapping the roof and installing a shake fin to finish off the car. Now drive and enjoy.

:)A lot of neat appearance mods for the Prius. First and foremost, for me, were wheels. I like the look of the 17" Prius 5 wheels. That's what I went with. A nice set of wheels will dress up any car. I went with a few other easy mods. Very content and nothing but smooth sailing ahead.

I was trying to do donuts and that sway bar is rock solid.!! I love this little car !! I don't think I will ever drive my BENTLEY... 8mpgs..... :-@

would love to see the setup...keep pushing the limits! It is possible to get great mileage with 18"s. My lifetime is over 48mpg and my running (last 10) is 50. Which tires did you go with?

That's awesome to hear. I went with just some cheap Chinese tire for now but will get a better tire when I wear these out in like 3500 miles ,lol.
I want to let you all know too , today I put nitrogen air in my tires and I pick up 2.5 Mpgs and the ride is a bit smoother.
    I cracked 44 Mpg today !! I'm so stoked and I'm on 18s !!

    Nitrogen works !!

You're not going to gain fuel economy with the simple addition of a little more nitrogen in your tires. :p

:sneaky: F8L , you are wrong .... and i say that with all do respect. if you did a little research on the nitrogen in your tires . you would know that it does keep your tires at a consant temp. you also loose less nitrogen over the life of the tire thus keeping your tires rolling smoother. as a matter of fact there is a nitrogen website that will calculate just how much money you will save in gas and tire wear , over the life span of your tires.
well i just finished putting in my HIDs from xenon suppy and they look great!!! prius kit with 6000k blubs.
getting tommy to install my fogs tomorrow and i should be lighting the road for everyone.

You fell for their propagation. F8L is correct. Try doing a little more research on this such as Should You Fill Your Car's Tires With Nitrogen?

40 mpg is pretty low that it's easy to gain 2.5 mpg through many factors such as more efficient driving, but you didn't get that from nitrogen alone.

Not that nitrogen isn't good for tires, but the same tire filled with 40lbs of nitrogen vs 40lbs of plain old air will get the same mileage.

We finally got pics (y) It looks great, unlike most non-lowered 18"-wheel Prius that look funky.
