Well Bra... the PoPo in Fairfield certainly knew where the donut shop on Texas Street was located... But you're right... Ione didn't have one
The biggest regret to moving to California is no Dunkin Donuts Coffee and Donuts !!!! Just not the same. :-( Hello Winchell's, 1 Apple Fritter and a Regular Coffee that is about 650 Calories and 23 Grams of Fat. Have one of these every day and your talking reduced lifespan. I digress.
it's funny the habits we get into. i remember going to aruba, and someone was walking the beach with a d.d.'s cup and i had to ask her where she got it.
You guys are lucky to have not been spoiled with a Timmies. Officially that would be a "Tim Horton's" but everyone just says "timmies". If you watch hockey you may notice their logo splattered in all Canadian home games and some border town games in the states. If you are a coffee drinker, can't beat the double double. I like bagels in the morning when I am back, but I will always opt for some timbits.
Donuts in my home is rare. I can say an occasional cake from Whole Foods around the Holidays or my favorite Bananas Foster.
Funny. I looked at the thread title, and actually said.. "Woo-Hoo!" A town not so far away has a small shop that does "Taternuts." Doughnuts made from potato flour. Probably illegal on the left coast. WILL probably be illegal once ACA kicks in. I treat 'em like White Castles. A rare treat.
A guy I went to high school with about 1959 worked at that Donut shop. I can't remember exactly where it was, IIRC it was across the street from the Solano theater about a block away. Did you know the Solano theater burned down a couple of months ago? He said he got to know most of the cops in town and a couple of them latter let him off with a warning instead of giving him a speeding ticket. It's a good thing they didn't know what he put in the morning batch of donuts a couple of times.
