Just pulled my invoice from the CM replacement. The job description is the same but the part number is slightly different: for an '05 Prius - CM part #83291-47320. The CM part # 83291-47360 is a valid part number for your combination meter which would make sense due to the change after the 2005 model year. I do not understand why it is followed by RP. I do not have these letters following the part number on my invoice. Replacement part?

I assume RP is replacement part. Not sure of the significance.

I just did some more checking on the part #'s on Autonation.com The "RP" part # is listed about $200.00 more than the non "RP" part #. It comes up as a combo meter also.

2008 TOYOTA PRIUS Parts - AutoNation Toyota Gulf Freeway Parts

Who knows how Toyota really list's these things. They are constantly changing part #'s and making revisions on their parts. However, those in business will understand that vendor's are constantly reengineering and revising their product regularly. Hence the changing part #'s and the changing prices.

I spoke with the service manager today. I went back in this afternoon and they installed two new trim rings to replace the ones that went missing. They also added fluid to both the inverter reservoir and the ICE coolant reservoir (both were below the low line). He was apologetic and I feel this has concluded this visit. I don't know that I would recommend them, but I at least they made good.

Edit: I guess I'll find out if the combination meter is is fixed when winter comes around again.

Congrats for reaching surpassing 300,000 miles! I was under the impression that the replacement CMs were to continue past 299,999 limit of the originals. The CM part # is 83291-47320 on my invoice. I have a long way to go before that milestone. I just broke 172,000 miles.

    Hi all--

A bit after the fact but here goes nevertheless:

The combination meter failed for the first time on my 2007 in February at ~84,000 miles. It turned itself back on after several restarts, but I took it into the dealership nevertheless. They diagnosed the problem for free and ordered the part, and during the 3 week waiting period they gave me a 2012 Corolla rental free of charge.

No gripes here about Toyota's customer service, they owned up to their problem and kept the inconvenience to me at a minimum.

(I just got the warranty enhancement notice in the mail today - four months after it failed and was replaced free of charge.)

Do you happen to still have the phone number for Toyota Corporate, please?

I received the letter a couple of months ago and I now have all of the documents necessary to mail and get my money back on the repair I got done, but I unfortunately do not have this letter with me - it is in storage, all the way in the back, I can't have access to it.

Unless you also have the mailing address where to send your invoice to for reimbursement?

Thank you so very much in advance for your precious help.

    This forum rocks :)

Thanks, but been there, done that, called Toyota in Torrance, the operators have no clue who to transfer me to, they transfer me to various recordings that don't answer my questions, and then it disconnects me.
If anyone knows what department we need to talk to, or has a direct number, it'd be awesome, thank you!

I have had the combination meter replaced this past week on my 2006 whith 243,761 miles on it. Scott Will toyota in Sumter SC did the work and it was their first one. They provided me with a rental car for 5 days while the part was ordered and installed. I was impressed with thier service and customer relations. They did a full inspection on the car before returning it, noted a few items to repair and the cost for them. I was hesitant about the repair after reading some of the posts on here, but the experience for me was good. I have had this problem off and on for a year now and was about to do the repair myself until I received my letter a month ago. Seems other have gotten the enhanced warranty info months before I did.

As a side note bought a 2012 Prius V from the same dealer. Drives a bit smoother than my '06 age being considered.

I'd be interested to know how long people have been waiting in recent months for the combination meter to be replaced. I imagine the early adopters waited week after week because of the rush of people to get the replacement back in the Winter.

But, how long have you waited for CM replacement in the warm months? 3 days as quoted? A week? 2 weeks? Thanks.
