I got my Prius two almost a month ago and just noticed this scuff mark. Anyone know the best way to remove it without harming the paint? Sent via Galaxy S4
Ditto, wife rubbed up against pole. Spent $5 for some wax kit or whatever. I had zero confidence it would come off. The paint had come off onto the pole. Whats the point? But I was wrong and it litereally "buffed right out."
Just did a google search and meguirs scratch x shows up for autozone, Walmart, target, and amazon. I agree with bubbatech, it's good stuff.
If you do use the Scratch X, be sure to wax the area afterward. The scratch X is a very mild abrasive that works on the clear coat, so it removes the wax. It is also good for things that slightly etch the clear coat, You can't remove such blemishes with a clay bar. Scratch X is the only thing I have found that will remove them and yet leave an excellent shine.
Be real careful when rubbing out the scratch on the curve of the fender. The shape of the curve results in extra pressure, resulting in faster cutting. That makes it easy to go through the clear coat, then you have problem.
It appear to be simple paint transfer. The Scratch X is good to use as it is almost the same product as 3M "Fineness-it II" professional finishing material. P/N -05928. It is specifically for clear coat finishes.
Exactly what those above are saying. The old tale of "I cut it again but it is still to short" applies here. Go slow with minimal pressure....it is always easy to do a little more and you want to remove as little of the "good stuff" as possible.
