We all know that CalTrans will re-evaluate the program at 50,000 stickers and decide whether to allow it to grow to a maximum of 75,000. At 50K Caltrans will begin a review of the impact hybrids are having on traffic in diamond lanes across the state. I read somewhere that this will be a 90-day study. My question is will the DMV continue to issue stickers during the 90 days? I guess we will find out in about three weeks when the DMV hit the 50K milestone, but it would be nice to know. (Check cashed, but still waiting).
I have heard conflicting information from DMV ranging from 1) a pause to study with undefined length of pause to 2) word that the study has been on-going and no pause is planned. Both people were involved with the distribution of stickers, and both were sure they were correct. So in my opinion, it is anyone's guess what will happen.
