I just sold my 2005 Hyundai Elantra hatchback, and am leaning towards buying a Prius C, probably the two. There are a number of C's at the local dealerships, plus some 2012 models. My wife and I took a Summer Rain Metallic C two for a test drive, which we both enjoyed. I am trying to narrow my choices down with all the colors and trim levels available. I am a member of USAA, and they have a car buying service which supposedly gives a good price when buying thru them. I was quoted $19,392 for the two trim with the Preferred Accessory Pkg #1 (Z1), and includes both the destination charge and dealer/regional fees. Is this a fair price? Also, has anyone heard when the 2014 C will be launched, and if there are any updates worth noting for the 2014 model?

Sounds like a pretty good deal, solid discount on the list price. I like the extra electronics on the three, but it's around $1700 more than the two.

As far as the C in general goes though, you won't find too many cars that are cheaper to own in the long run. Between crazy good gas mileage, reliability, and resale they more than make their money back on the initial investment.

Yeah, definitely outstanding value in these cars. I haven't started any negotiating yet, other than get price quotes from a couple dealers. One in particular, has 5 2012 C Three's right now, I just received price quotes for 2 of them: $20,749 for a Blue Streak C Three with the upgraded alloy wheels installed & cargo mat/carpet floor mats; $20,449 for Moonglow C Three with standard wheels and cargo mat/carpet floor mats. I am considering heavily negotiating on one of these if I can get a really good deal, it's just that I was leaning towards the Summer Rain color, and there are a couple 2013 C Two's in this color nearby, nothing else. Anyone comment on the Blue Streak color? Haven't seen one in person yet.

A lot may depend on your location. I guess they are selling for more in California and major cities.
The blue streak color is nice. I think the internet pictures on google images are actually pretty accurate. I'd call it another bold color like the red or orange.

Look up the car on truecar. They give average prices paid for your location.

Mine is a Blue Streak, and I think that my user photo does the color justice.

    Yes, a good price.
The 2014 C will be based on the Mazda 2, a really good 'B sedan' but its almost year away - early 2014- according to Jim Lentz, Toyota US CEO. Unless you are a corner carver waiting for the higher price likely isn't worth the wait.
    cheers and good luck.

There's no support at all for that statement in the interview with Lentz that you referenced in another thread. All he said was that the Yaris in the USA would be replaced with a rebadged Mazda2 from Mexico; no mention of any changes to the Prius c:

What was the thinking behind borrowing the Mazda2 to make the next Yaris?

To be competitive in that B-car segment, cost plays a major role. When we had a very strong yen, it became problematic for us bringing vehicles made in Japan. We don't produce a B-platform car in North America. It made the most sense to find a partner to be able to do that. Mazda was planning a large operation in Mexico.

We helped Mazda get more volume to help offset their overall cost position, and for us to be able to get a great product for North America at a lower cost than bringing it in from Japan.

We'll bring in about 50,000 vehicles starting in summer 2015.
