No financing needed through Toyota to get the $1000 rebate on a 2012.

Toyota financing was required for the $1000 college grad rebate I used for mine.

I got the Blue Prius 2 last week for $21.5 out the door, price was around $19.6 before tax/license. I felt it was a fair deal and probably could of got less but I did get the color I wanted from the closest dealer.

i got my c2 for 22k, 19.9k b4 taxes and had a 1k rebate, so 21k in all. put 6k on the table and financed the rest. I think I could've got it lower to 19.5k or something (since dealer had like 10 or so prius c sitting on the lot and prius's don't seem to be very popular in my hometown), but I was already at the dealer for like 2hr+ and shopping (any kind of shopping seems to always be so draining). Was okay with it all since dealer was in town.

    I guess for best pricing

    A) visit a dealer in a place that prissy's dont sell so well

    B) check how much prissy's they got in their stock (dont order online to a dealer)

    C) walk in a dealership with a car loan pre-approved in your hand and play your bank's financing against toyota's financing (I financed through toyota since they gave me a wee bit better deal then my bank and that seemed to be one of the few reasons the dealer manager was selling the car to me at -1k or so invoice)...

    D) play different dealerships against each other

    E) go for a year older model (2012) that may be sitting on the lot for a bit

    F) I've also heard going at the end of the month works in price haggling (if they haven't met their monthly quota or whatnot)

    G) I've also heard going on a weekend 1-2hrs before they close might also work in haggling (since maybe they wanna kick you out of the door and go home for the day)

I'll probably head back to same dealer again for my next car (planning to get a prius v for the wife sometime in the future when I pay off this prissy, me and my wife agree that we can never ever go back to a full gasoline car b/c gas is so expensive and after havin) & hopefully I'll play my cards better next time around. Next time I'll try E & F along with A-D and see how well it'll go, since I did buy my car at the beginning of a new month and went early in the day)

& I looked around some states that had no sales tax, QQ, wished I lived in those states when I buy a car (-2k or so)

From what I've heard, your state will make you show proof of having paid taxes when registering it, or something like that. So if you buy it in a state/(county?) with lower sales taxes you might have to pay the difference. Maybe. I don't know the details of it or if there's a way around that.

As far as the choice of a C2 vs base, C3 or C4, it depends on what you just need to have beyond the C2 - like fdruise. better tires, wheels, other nicitieds can be had for much less than the increased costsso get what yiu want.

Good point. I live near the Boston area where every other car you see is a Prius. The local dealer Prius C's seemed to cost several thousand dollars more and only have several in stock at any given time. I bought mine in middle of nowhere New Hampshire where they had 23 Prius C's in stock.
