I just bought a 2013 Prius III in dark gray. It came with the solar moonroof and Audio Display with navigation and Entune. It replaces my 1998 Camry, and I expect it will be the last car I ever buy. I may not be the ideal driver for this car. I usually do about 3,000 miles a YEAR, most of them very short hops for my commute. So I'm not expecting 50 mpg. But I still want to reduce my gasoline consumption as much as possible without buying an all-electric plug-in, as I have no place to put a charging station. I hope this is the solution. Looking forward to participating in this forum!
Good luck and all the best. Routine maintenance is all you need and your new Prius will last. I am the original owner of a 2004 Prius with 211,000 miles driving 130 miles roundtrip (entire length of Rt. 78 in NJ), for work daily. Highest mpg 55.1. The only issue that I have is the car burns 1 quart of oil every 1500 miles. Enjoy your new car!
congrats and welcome! if you find your mpg's disappointing, take a look at the pip, perfect for those short trips and all the benefits of a regular prius. all the best!
If PIP means "Plug-In Prius," that isn't an option unless I move to a new condo or house. That would raise the overhead cost of a PIP by quite a bit ($30K for the PIP, $300K for the charging station). If my retirement goes as planned, my next car will be all-electric -- but it'll be an all-electric golf cart.
