I bought a 2013 Prius c on May 11. Dealer filed up the tank. The cruising range showed 200+ miles. I researched that on this forum and found that incorrect cruising range is not uncommon. So I reset Trip A and B so that the mileage and mpg were zero.

Today, I brought it back to the dealer to get the leather seats installed. When I picked it up I noticed the mpg was no longer 48.x it was in the twenties. The fuel gauge showed hte tank full again. The cruising range was 221. The clock as 8:08 AM. The clock should have been 15:25. And the date was May 17, 2011.
The odometer showed the correct mileage or around 154 miiles.

I am a bit annoyed because I was looking forward to refilling the tank when it got near empty to get a more accurate cruising range and see what the car said my mpg was. I will have to wait for that.

My question is, how did the dealer or whomever reset everything except the mileage on Trip A and Trip B?

No doubt the dealer disconnected the 12volt battery and that did the dirty work. No real problem.

I'll be interested to see what the issue is, my car is going back to the dealer for a mpg test. Also, some of my data shows it's 2011, too.

Sounds like either a CPU battery or a computer failure...

As noted above, the dealer disconnected the battery. When working on seats it's bad juju to have the airbags active.

Gotcha. Disconnecting the 12v would clear the charge in the cpu battery, thus resetting everything back to factory. SOP.

My C2 came from the dealer with date off by over a year, the fuel cost set to 1980s gas prices... lots of the default settings were completely out of whack. Also, when I took it in for the first service I was told that they HAD to reset either Trip A or Trip B in order to clear the "service needed" message (which, as it turns out, was a crock).

It certainly is a crock! I was at my dealer yesterday for a 10K service. When I got my car back I was driving on a road with a posted speed limit of 50mph. When I glanced at my speedometer it said I was driving 88 o_O I soon realized it was set to Killometers. I hadn't driven too far so I turned around and went back. When I arrived I also realized they had reset my trip B, WHAT THE??? They told me they had to to reset my maintenance reminder. "oh, really?" I asked why they didn't have to reset it at my 5000 mile check and they had no answer. They took the car in the back to reset the KM to MPH and were taking much too long for my liking. While waiting I looked up how to reset and how to change back to MPH on my phone and walked back to the service bay. There I found the mechanic sitting in the car reading the owners manual and the service advisor looking over his shoulder. I asked him to please get out of my car and I'd fix it myself. I also suggested that he learn the proper way of resetting the reminder light. He gave me such an attitude and insisted he didn't need to learn how and that he had done it correctly. Now, I'll start keeping track all over again from 10K I guess. Some mechanics really have no clue. I have a call in to the service manager and can't wait for this survey to come! By the way, this is my first post :) and my overall mileage at reset was 54.9...

Fuelly is awesome, no question, but clearly it isn't necessary for the service people to reset the trip meters in order to clear the maintenance reminder... and it is offensive when they do so even when asked not to. It is their responsibility to learn how to service this car to the owner's satisfaction and not to give the owner any attitude. The fact that the tech AND the supervisor didn't even know how to do something as simple as changing from MPH to KPH is a sad statement of the level of their training.

I just got back from my local dealer, and the tech admitted that they don't know enough about these cars and are learning as they go....like I am.

Put the Display into Odo setting and hold down the trip button. *Note: if you are in Trip A or Trip B you will reset them. Make sure you are in Odo.
