Hello , I have 2006 Prius , my touchscreen looks like an older models ( 2004 for example ) should not it be like this ? with round buttons .etc is there any way to find out a software version ? or is there any way to update/upgrade it ? Should i change whole system or what to do?
I've seen a few 06-07 Prius (mainly low models package 1-2) that were originally fleet cars or rental cars and they have the 04-05 style MFD (touchscreen). You Prius probably lacks full Smartkey too... There is no easy way to upgrade the 04-05 style screen to the 06-09 style. They are completely different hardware and software.
If you turn the lights on and of three times with the display illuminated this gets you into a system check mode. One of the screens in this mode gives you the details you require. John (Britprius)
Thanks for your answers, yes , my car does not have smartkey , is there any big differences ( features .etc ) between 04-05 mfd and 06-09 ?
I have a 2008 base model with the same screen that you are talking about. What would be the purpose of Toyota developing 2 different versions of this software? I would like to upgrade mine as well and I feel your pain. I got the Prius that no one apparently wanted seeing as it lacks the SmartKey and the fancy display (even thought the screen is identical)! It doesn't even beep when you lock the doors. If I find anything I will post back, but after many attempts it seems that we are only a few that have this ailment.
I just bought a used 2007 Prius that has the older display... It was only owned by a single person prior, I bought it from a dealer, and it is a package 3 with Bluetooth and JBL... Should I be concerned that I have the older display?
