Was looking @ a new V and gen 3 a few months back along with TDI I have come across a 2010 v (5) certified w/34k that the dealer is looking for $24k Has all options along with new tires. Is there anything to be looking for other than the obvious with regards to wear and tear? If the numbers work with regards to the trade I think I will move forward. This board has been great in gathering info. I know the dynamics of the prius are far different than the xc90 I currently drive. This move is based upon fuel economy and the utility the prius presents with the hatch. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
24K seems a little high, but if you're a high mileage driver then the options may be worth the extra cabbage---to you. One of the benefits of CPO is that you get something of a warranty for the extra $$. Your premise is sound in getting a G3 over the xc90 where fuel economy is concerned! Just remember that there are aspects in the Prius driving experience that should be fully explored before you commit to ownership AND remember that in Joisey you're going to take a little bit more of an MPG ding when Old Man Winter comes to see you than the folks over on the other coast. If you GOTTA have the options that the III has over the II then go for it! (after 2010...they switched to "2" and "3") Just remember that for 1-2 thou more you can have a '12 or a '13 -Two....brand new. GOOD LUCK!
Yes by all means upgrade! As JMD said, you should be able to cut something off that number... they are playing on the gas price rise.
I'm not sure what car exactly you are looking at. There was no 'Prius V' back in 2010, though they did use roman numerals for the regular models so either you were looking at a III or a V. The V is more fully featured than the III. If you are looking at a 2010 III then absolutely not worth it at that price.
Originally I was looking @ the new V along with the new Gen 3 I am currently looking at a CPO 2010 Prius V it has all options This whole Big V little v 5 configuration is confusing. Thanks again

Went and completed the deal. With the trade-in the price was acceptable to me. Now I need to read up on the advanced technology package.
Toyota definitely didn't help here but it isn't that confusing once explained. 2010 models used uppercase Roman numerals. After 2010 all Prius use Two,Three, Four or Five for model designation. The station wagon Prius is a lowercase v as to not confuse it with the 2010 Prius V. Enjoy your new Prius! I too had a 2010 Prius V with the A/T package and enjoyed it a lot. Self park, I could like without. The radar cruise is the best feature in it IMO.
