Rear brake worn, need advice about best option

    Is it city driving or are conditions in Canada very different. I'm closing in on 160,000 kms and rear brakes are hardly worn, fronts about 50%?

    I suppose disc and pads were replaced, I will have to verify.
    BTW, I work from home and hardly hit 10000 km (6000 miles) per year. That's why a used Prius was definitely a better choice.

    I think the previous owner didn't bother about using the generator to brake, that's why the brakes are worn.

    The overriding factor here is rusting caused by rock salt (or some other agent) applied to the roads for several months each year to address icing conditions.
    This has always been what kills cars up here.

    Those are the worse rotors I have ever seen. I even grew up in a town near the ocean.

    Yes they certainly look very rusty. Salt explains it.

    I'm a cheap guy and like to save money, so I always do my own brakes. But I spend the extra few dollars to get the dealer pads and discs. It may be a few more bucks in reality the product is way better than anything from Autozone or a local parts store. Just my opinion

    We'll see, I have a package waiting at UPS which are Bosch Quietcast pads.

    How did the Bosch Quietcast pads/rotors work out? Did you go with the ceramic pads? Would you recommend? Thanks!

    Oh boy you revived an old thread! The brakes were fine but they were not silent, they were noisy a bit

    I replaced rear pads with Toyota, no issues since. I needed to replace them early; I'd screwed up the caliper piston orientation, had uneven wear. This is the part number:

    04466-76012

    They were just under $100.
