i just got my Prius C and it has 2 buttons on my driving side below the mirror control unit, here i have attached a picture of it, please ,some one explain me, what these buttons are for, thank you Diluk
What does your manual say? From Googling, I'm guessing one is News | Back numbers | Panasonic. The other maybe to disable the pedestrian noisemaker aka VPNS? (2012 Prius Vehicle Proximity Notification System (VPNS) - Video | PriusChat) Just a guess.
Is this Prius C with the Steering wheel on the right side? (Oriental) Cause at least in USA and PR I never see that before
i even haven't seen these buttons before in my Prius Gen 3 , its only in my TOYOTA AQUA ( Japanese version of Prius C) yes, in Sri Lanka, we have right hand steering wheel. and unfortunately this is imported directly form Japan ,and the whole manual is in Japanese, thnx
Sorry for my attempt at humor here, but isn't the right hand button for playing "Packman"? Oh, darn, it can't be (because there's no 'joystick" in the "c" for directing "Packman" around the maze). Ken (in Bolton,Ct)
I agree that it looks like a shut-off for the noisemaker. US cars are regulated so that they cannot have them, which is why most people on this forum have never seen the button before.
The one with the note is to disable the Vehicle Proximity Notification System The "Nanoe" one is some sort of air purifier.
i just got the photos from the Japanese manual for those buttons, please Translate to English and please somebody translate,
The switch with the musical note is for a pedestrian alert sound. This is similar to the Vehicle Proximity Notification System (VPNS) on the US market Prius. When turned on, a sound is emitted when the vehicle is driven below 25km/h and the gasoline engine is off. Nano-E appears to be something like a negative ion generator, adding negative ions to the air conditioning outlet air. Panasonic describes it as "Nano-sized electrostatic atomized water particles, nanoe™, that improve air quality". Here is a link to the Panasonic Web site describing their system: Nano-sized electrostatic atomized water particles, nanoe™, that improve air quality | Technology | About Panasonic | Panasonic Global On the US market Prius Liftback Five, there is a similar device installed in the driver's A/C duct made by Sharp, called Plasmacluster. The US version does not have an on/off switch, it always turns on when the fan is on.
