I'd ike some advice from those of you who are very price conscious, and financially savvy. I'm definitely buying a prius v 2 soon, and I have gotten quotes from several dealerships in my area. What I have as a choice at this point (although I am waiting for a couple places to get back to me) is either a 2012 prius v floor model (new) for an out the door price of 27,280 or a 2013 prius v for an out the door price of 27,900. These prices are after all taxes and fees. I feel like I should be saving more on the 2012 model being that its almost 2 years old at this point, i cant choose the color, and the depreciation due to model year is probably 3 or 4 thousand dollars and I'm only saving 600 if I go with that..plus the other dealership that has the 2013 basically told me they would work with me on the price if I came in. Should I try to get the floor model for a better price? I am keeping this car for the life of the car, until it no longer becomes practical to repair. I don't really care if its a 2012 or 2013, but feel I could do better on the price if I go with the 2012 model. Am I right?

Here are the numbers for my region according to edmunds:

    2012 invoice: 25,511
    2012 msrp: 27,345
    2013 invoice: 25,605
    2013 msrp: 27,445

However the fact remains that in that first year even a car like the prius v which retains its value better than others might lose 10% or more of its value.

I bought my prius v 2 today. I went with the 2013, got it at 25050 + ttl. The total was 27,670. I'm pretty happy.
