anyone try this 17x8 off 48?

    does anyone know if 17x8 off 48 will fit prius 2011 and not rubbing? if it does, what size tires should i get? 235 45?

    That should fit without issue. You can run 215/45/17 to retain stock sizing.

    For comparison, I run 18x8.5 +48. No fitment issues on 215 or 225/40/18. I'm also lowered on Eibachs.

    235 might be too wide and rub on the plastic fender liner on bumps and dips. 245/40/18 definitely rubs and I can confirm from personal experience.

    Whats you motivation for 235/45? Personally, I wouldn't go wider than 225/45/17.

    Sounds good!

    When choosing tire sizes, you should also be aware of offsetting the speedo. Use Online Wheel & Tyre Fitment calculator. Offset, Tyre stretch and Rolling Radius calculator to put in your wheel/tire specs to see how off your speedo will be.

    For visual appeal, some folks prefer the look of a squared fitment vs stretched. 215 would be slightly stretched on a 8" wide wheel. 225 would be more squared up on a 8" wide wheel.

    For economy, gas mileage wise you could assume that the wider tire (225) would impact your gas mileage more than the thinner (215) because you have a wider contact patch with the road. I say assume because that is also dependent on performance specs of whatever tire you choose.

    Wouldn't the design of the wheel dictate whether that would fit or not? The 17x7" +48mm Scion FRS wheel does not fit without a spacer because it rubs yet the 17x7" +50mm Prius Five wheel fits just fine.

    The design of the wheel would be one of the many aspects to determine proper fitment. In general a 17x7 +48 wheel should fit without issues. A +48 is only about 2mm of poke compared to a +50 (face of wheel 2mm closer to outer fender) . If a spacer is needed for the FRS wheels to fit on a Prius, my assumption is that a wheel spacer is needed because the wheel spokes don't have proper clearance for the Prius brakes? Seems odd to me if that was the case because our brakes aren't that large.

    *EDIT*
    I'm now thinking that you are probably referring to the bolt pattern. :) If you're gonna buy a wheel, make sure it's 5x100 or dual drilled and one of the two patterns is 5x100!

    Nah, the spokes didn't clear the brakes. You either run a 3mm spacer or grind off a corner of the caliper. :)

    My opinion is...

    215 if you want to keep everything in the fender the way it is. 235 might rub slightly and require you to pull or roll the front fender if the tire rubs.

    It's really your choice on what your priorities are between:
    - Keeping speed-o accurate (larger than OE sizing or staying at OE sizing)
    - Impact to economy (wider or narrow tires)
    - Needing to modify fender well to accommodate wider tires (wider or narrow tires)
    - Personal opinion on how you like your tires to appear mounted on the wheel (do you like your tires looking squared or stretched)

    As a Prius driver I would assume fuel economy would be high on your priority list and if that's the case then I would recommend 215.

    How much does a xxr 522 17x8 +48 wheel weigh?

    From what I've read up on from other XXR owners... While the wheels are pretty affordable, the wheels are heavy compared to other manufacturers offering similar sizes.

    I know I'm a size larger with a 19x8 with a +50 and am lowered on Tanabe DF210's with 225/35/19's and without my spacers on the rear they do not rub. I run them without spacers in the front and with 15mm spacers in the rear to flush them with the fender. With this setup I had to roll the rear fenders and they only rub slightly on full compression of the suspension. I just haven't taken the time to get out and roll them a little more. If you don't want to worry about rubbing, I wouldn't go wider than a 225.

    Any one tried 17x9 +22 in the front with 17x10 +15 in the back? I'm sure I'll have to roll the fenders but I'm just asking if anyone can help me.

    This is NOT a good recommendation. Simply rolling your fenders will not be fine with the wheel sizings mikeyvaj is looking at.

    17x9 +22 in the front would be some serious poke. I think the wheel lip would be 30mm (Guesstimate) past the front fenderwell lip with that wheel sizing. If you were going to run this setup, most likely you would have to run with a stretched tire. If you were going to run this setup with a lowered stance (springs, coilovers, bags), you would also most likely have to not just roll the front lip, but also pull the front fender to remedy clearance issues with the tire and fender.

    If you plan on lowering your car + want to use factory alignment settings + not modify fenders (roll or pull) + want 18" wheels + not have staggered setup...

    18x8.5 +48 on all four corners will be good and safe.

    or

    18x8 +45 on all four corners will be good and safe.
