Hey guys. We looked at a nice 2010 prius last night and she wants to buy it. One owner car off lease, 35k miles. I spoke to the dealer who ran the vin for me and did have some service records, so all said and done I feel very comfortable with her buying this car. My question is the owner says it's a Prius III but no where does it say this on the carfax or the manual or anything. So how can I be sure? The car does have navigation, JBL, and bluetooth. But has cloth seats and no solar roof. Is there a way to tell that it is in fact a III and not a 2 with navigation added? Is there even a difference? Thanks
JBL and navi were not available on the II so that should conclude it's not a II. To have those option, you have to get a III or better. I think the other feature to look for is the Smart key. I believe the II only has smart key for driver's door.
Cloth seats were what came with the III and the sunroof was available as an additional package, not standard for the III. http://www.toyotacertified.com/ebrochures/10_prius.pdf
Sounds like a III to me, not a II. I think 3 door smart key was only on the IV and V in 2010 and the II and III had 1 door sks so looking for that wouldn't help. Also, if I remember, jbl was available starting in the III so even more so its a III.
Our 2011 III is similarly equipped. Cloth seats/navigation/USB/Bluetooth/Smartkey, 1 door SKS/JBL premium sound system. No solar roof, no sunroof.
ok thanks guys. yes it does have the smart key. ok thanks I just wanted to be sure if i ever go to sell the car many years from now i didn't want to find out i bought a different model and never knew it. Thanks! Now it's time to maximize some mpgs.
