I'm not sure what the best tank I ever did was.

Same here, have to use the car for work, and that includes lots and lots of short trips during prime traffic. Time is money, and the faster I get deliveries done the more I make.

I actually am keeping track of my current tank for the top 20 thread. At 100% city driving, and normal work use it's currently around 63.3mpg, which is only good enough for last place atm, and if it drops much more tonight won't even make that. 75mpg+ seems easily doable in a C, it just needs longer trips, non-rushed and non rush hour.

Shoot, thats all downhill, not unlike Hendsonville to Bat Cave. We've gotten over 100 mpg numerous times with and without hybrids.

But it's my commute so I have to go uphill too. :)

    Distance = 695.7 km / Fuel = 28.527
    FC (Indicated) = 25.3km/l @ 3.95L/100km @ 59.5MPG
    FC (Calculated) = 24.4km/l @ 4.09L/100km @ 57.4MPG
    Cost (MYR1.90/L @ USD0.64/L) = MYR0.08/km @ USD0.03/km
This is 60% highway and 40% urban.
Urban is stop and go with speed up to 80km/h (50mph)
Highway is steady cruise up to 120km/h (74mph)

    Question:
How did you guys get over 60MPG? Best i could do over a significant distance is 33.6km/l (79MPG) over a distance of 49km (30 miles) doing a constant 75kmh (45mph). So any suggestion on cruising speed recommended to break the 60MPG barrier over larger distances?

Izham, that is an excellent tank!

However, to be competitive for the top 20 you need to drive over 500 miles or 805km. The current lowest mpg on the list is 65.1mpg. If you can beat that I'll happily add you to the list. It used to be 63mpg but priusCpilot just bumped the list down and upped the minimum. :)

Tips n tricks? Roads over here are flat, no big climb or descend. What do u suggest is the best cruising speed to get over 60MPG. I got all these with auto cruise, manually, its hard to get it cruising as efficient.

I've been waiting all week to run this tank out and post my over 63mpg tank. It was a rank worthy tank until yesterday.

I posted it over there anyways, rank worthy or not.

I just saw your post. I felt terrible too. I know how much effort it takes to get a good tank. So many hours of concentration and frustration with other drivers. :(

Keep your cruising speed low but almost as important is learning how to glide at every opportunity. In a perfect world you would be able to do a full glide to every stop. Since we don't live in a perfect world you have to learn to do it every chance you get. That will really help bump your fuel economy up. Then you can learn how to properly pulse & glide and Drive With Load (DWL). Check the GenII and GenIII forums. Tons of good info there!

It's a great list/idea but maybe we should create our own list with tips for C drivers :) Getting a tank over 500miles isnt easy for me without good timing on my 90 mile round trip commute
Actually yours and codyroo appear to be the most impressive as both of you have high avg mph. I'm in the 37-44 avg mph range and typically in the 60-63 mpg range for a full tank (with good weather and some concentration).

I don't think there is a need for another list. Any tank that is competitive will easily make the 500 mile requirement. :)

Long commutes like yours an mine make high number tanks difficult. That is why I supplemented my numbers by doing 233 miles of pulse & glide. There is no way I could get my numbers that high otherwise.

The Prius and Prius c are close enough that the hypermiling techniques apply to both vehicles. The only real difference is the HSI display and even that is set up similarly enough to apply the techniques. :)

I got 79 MPG today over a distance of 49km.. but average MPG since last fill up is only 56MPG, was running late this morning and travelled 200km without MPG concerns, even topped out at 182kmh (110MPH) on some stretches. Yet, the combined MPG is 56MPG, and remaining cruising range is 370km, with 334km already done for the last tank. Need to wait for the next fill up to get good MPG. I can see 70 ish MPG very possible huhuhu, tried the gliding technique, a bit tricky because speed bounce from 65 -80 kmh a lot.

No, just pull over out of the way. Moving traffic pylons aren't tolerated.

Yeah, 110kmh (70mph) is the most reasonable cruising speed I could do.. People here drive like mad, even in the slow lane they are doing over 65. Only in urban and back roads i could cruise at a slower 40-50mph,

Best on the display for a tank so far was 34.2 km/l (80.4 mpg), But I've done a few 200 km trips that were over 37 km/l that could put me square in first place. May be time to take up the challenge!

Tailgated by a Suzuki Swift, end up racing him speeding over 100mph most of the time and even hitting over 110 a few places. Trip FC sux at 22km/l for 50km and tank average dropped tu 23KM/L with only 4 bar left of fuel.... have to skip this tank for MPG challenge :(

Moving traffic pylons get nothing but distain; show me real numbers like 48 mpg at an average spoeed of 65 mph for 450 miles. Multiply average speed by mpg to get your score value and then see how good your score compares. 3120 versus 2320 makes 86 mpg look positively worthless.
