Hey there, Is anyone else finding scratches around the charge port area of their PIP? Has anyone seen a "clear bra" or similar type of paint protection film for this area? If I have one made, anyone interested in getting a copy? Let me know. Thanks!
No problem here, but clear paint protection film will work great! make it as large or small as you would like. Nice idea if you think it is needed. It will be cheap and you can do it your self, just have a shop cut it out and you can apply yourself.
Not sure why you would have scratches, unless you have severe vision issues (I don't mean this in a mean way). Even if you miss by a few inches, you would still hit the black J1772 plug component (the black plastic), which is underneath the fuel door. Make sure you attach the black cap of your EVSE to the cable, so nothing touches the paint of your car. The J1772 connector is designed in such way that nothing should touch the car paint itself.
Odd you pointed that out. I have a nice gash right at the charge port... I assumed it was the kids riding their bikes....
A friend was having his Corvette treated with one of those invisible shield film products and I took him to pick up his car. I asked about using the material on the flat black 'B' pillar trim on the passenger door, where on prior cars my wife's fingernails left scratch marks. They put a piece on in about three minutes, trimmed to fit. You can't even tell it's there, and it has been nearly a year, with no scratches evident. There was no charge, but even if you had to pay for it, I can't imagine them charging more than a few bucks.
